Look, the president regularly and proudly insulting reporters and treating them like dirt isn't worth getting up in arms about, unlike pointing out that a paper (that I don't work for) suddenly stopped being concerned with the contents of emails in 2017.

baseline normal racism is typical human nature, it's the same flavor that's found in black people who hate interracial relationships

but Southern racism was literally foundational to society; it's not kneejerk distaste for the other it's genuine ideological belief in racial hierarchy

New — I wrote about the myriad ways journalism’s moral rot manifests, and how our crumbling institutions have created the conditions for it to fester:
November 19, 2025 at 1:35 AM
Precisely.
My mind has been spinning the last few days as multiple crises of journalism converged—the Nuzzi book, Epstein’s emails revealing journalists hid information, Trump berating a reporter with no consequence—and it occurred to me they all stemmed from the same source: elite impunity.
Moral rot in elite journalism is killing the whole field
The Nuzzi/RFK Jr. mess and the revelation of Esptein's journo pals lay bare a profound moral absence at the heart of our free press.

Will's gotta stop with bad housing takes. Americans did not merely reveal preferences. There was concerted government action to destroy old urban housing, impose exclusionary zoning on new construction, plus massive subsidies for highways and individual mortgages that gave us SFH sprawl.
Right, this is true, but the OVERWHELMING evidence of the past 100 years of American life is that vastly more people want space and a car than a smaller unit and a car-free lifestyle. This is mostly why the suburban share of US population has grown relentlessly for the entire 20th and 21st century
Some people put a premium on space in my experience, others put a premium on not having to have a car and not being isolated out in the suburbs

I think it's actually really important that people see through the press's self-mythologizing bullshit for what they are: a bunch of unethical little shits who wouldn't recognize good writing if it bit them in the ass

I am disgusted by the racist, transphobic attacks on MCSW Commissioner Giselle Byrd. Massachusetts will not be intimidated. We must all come together to say no to hate. No to violence. No to attacks on transgender members of our community living as their true selves.

It is wild to watch people dispute this, lol
People want to believe that the GOP’s electoral success in red states is the result of dirty tricks and gerrymandering instead of the sincerely held beliefs of a majority of the population because a mechanical issue is easier to fix than wrestling with how to make people not believe what they do.

I wanted to share probably the most important sermon I’ve given and it’s while I’m being arrested. It’s torture pure and simple what happens at #Broadview. I’m ok, though I was thrown to the ground and choked with my pectoral cross. A review of the video shows I was peaceful - did I deserve this?

Alan Dershowitz is one of those claiming Epstein was not a pedophile because he pleaded guilty to one count of having sex for money with a 17-year-and-10-month-old person. "That’s not a pedophile." See this important response from Julia Brown, the brave reporter who broke the news on this

This obsession with “normal” is getting us all killed.

There is no such as “normal” and never has been.

Everything is constant change, flux and movement.

Normal is a myth

A teenager with a homeless parent? What? The fuck? Did she have a home and not allow her parent to live in it? Ended up having sex with? What? Yeah clearly you guys been caping for pedos long enough and you understand the assignment here
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Lately I've been interested in whether human society qualifies as a superorganism and one of the questions that comes up is "can individuals suvive completely alone" and the answer seems to be "yes, a rare few have survived for years alone in the elements, but they usually very quickly die."

If you turned 50 Raleigh outs into hits, he'd still have a lower AVG than Judge's .331

Flip 68 Raleigh outs into times on base and his OBP would still be lower than Judge's .457

Josh Naylor was great (.490 SLG), Raleigh outslugged him by 99 points (.589), Judge outslugged Raleigh by 99 (.688)
Cal Raleigh had an exceptional year. Good for MVP in a great many seasons. In my view, this wasn't particularly close though. Judge is doing absolute freak shit at the plate, but he's been doing it so consistently that it doesn't feel that crazy anymore. Which is nuts!
