That Ortiz and Clase reportedly received the EXACT same dollar amount from fixers — in 2025! — as Shoeless Joe Jackson and Lefty Williams did in 1919 is … completely absurd. And another reason why player salaries have very little to do with why these gambling scandals happen.

PassanBomb [derogatory]:

"Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz have been indicted by prosecutors in Brooklyn on a host of charges related to a scheme to rig bets on pitches thrown in MLB games. Ortiz was arrested in Boston earlier today. Clase is not currently in custody."

1959 was the beginning of the end for Bob Turley at age 28. Bumped to the bullpen that August, then injuries, and he pitched his last big league game at 33. Bob Friend was the same age, but at least he bounced back in 1960 and still had a few more good seasons.
It's always amusing when people think pitchers from the 1950s had invincible arms, when the attrition rate was terrible. And it was known at the time, and there were even predictions in the future that have almost come to pass by 2025.

here's the first video on the new channel, it's about the team that ACTUALLY invented the Tush Push years before the Eagles, so you can appropriately thank them or yell at them depending on whether you think the Tush Push is good (correct) or bad (wrong)

Not surprising that Aaron Judge also won a Silver Slugger

His 5th career win (2017, 2021, 2022, 2024, 2025) ties the Yankees team record (Dave Winfield, Jorge Posada, Derek Jeter & Robinson Canó) (award started in 1980)
Yankees 2B to Win Silver Slugger
Willie Randolph 1980
Alfonso Soriano 2002
Robinson Canó 5x (2006, 2010-13)
DJ LeMahieu 2x (2019 & 2020)
Jazz Chisholm Jr. 2025

Oh that's good
Juan Soto has won a Silver Slugger in three straight years with three different teams

The only other player to win a Silver Slugger in three consecutive years with a different team was Mike Hampton:

1999, Astros
2000, Mets
2001, Rockies

A first...last night was only the 3rd World Series-ending double play

1921 Game 8 Giants 1 Yankees 0
Home Run Baker 4-3-5 vs Art Nehf (Aaron Ward was thrown out trying to go 1st-to-3rd! Imagine if that happened today)

1947 Game 7 Yankees 5 Dodgers 2
Bruce Edwards 6-4-3 vs Joe Page
