The Government's new stated aim is to make it so unattractive for lawyers to take good cases against the State that they will stop. Not bad cases. Good ones. Successful ones. This new rule only applies if you *win* your case. Doesn't that worry anyone slightly?

Every journalist doing any interview on the housing crisis with a member of the Oireachtas, especially ones from the government parties, needs to check in advance if that person is a landlord and take them to task on it. Anything else isn't journalism.

Not banning disposables shows a real lack of care for children, the environment and risk of fires at recycling plants etc
Not a tax based on health benefits but to replace revenue from tobacco sales.

I went from 20+ cigs/day, to 18mg, 12mg, 6mg and now 3mg liquid. The cost of my 2x10ml liquid/week goes from €10 to €20.

Disposables, stronger & favoured by kids, go up €1-2 each. Banning those would be a health measure.
I support taxing vapes, banning disposables outright, mandatory plain packaging and making their sale dependent on a licence - a much stricter regime than the current one.

I'll try to explain again why the recently introduced vape tax is irrational, counter-productive, and in some cases harmful🧵
