Deputy Michael Cahill’s excuse for driving 190km/ph…

He was late to a function he had organised

We wonder if he’d accept that excuse if someone appeared at the Justice Committee with it

2 year ban isn’t enough for that type of reckless disregard for public safety
January 16, 2026 at 6:07 PM
“Entitled” is the right word… but we’d use it differently to describe the Judge

The real nightmare would be the traffic if the tens of thousands of cyclists in Dublin every day all decided tomorrow to hop in the car

Even we’re now starting to lose track of the amount of rollbacks of basic road safety commitments from this Government

No safe road speeds
No restructuring of the RSA
No automatic camera enforcement

Oh and we’ve just had the worst year for road deaths in a decade
January 1, 2026 at 11:33 AM
Annnddd… there it is

TII will be buying the 12 properties in Dartmouth Square

The homes sell anywhere from €1.35 - €2+ million without the incentive of a JR

In the end it was about money… nobody was surprised

MetroLink Judicial review has been withdrawn

While this is welcome news… The Dartmouth 19 have almost certainly been successful in whatever their demand was

The JR system has to change, plans like this cannot be held to ransom

Dublin is now the 11th most congested city in the world & 3rd in Europe

Governments answer:

End 2:1 spending ratio to roads
Delay public transport projects
Seemingly cancel parts of the Rail Review
Cancel RSA repurposing so it’s actually effective

Apparently the benevolent Don O’Neill; MD of Manhattan Peanuts said they’ve taken the JR to save the “cost to the taxpayer”

Despite the fact that if they’re successful the plans will be scrapped costing us millions

Feel free to email them your thoughts

Manhattan Peanuts Ltd have taken a judicial review against the Luas Finglas project

This is an important time of year for crisp companies… lots of hungry people in pubs

Remind them with your wallets that they shouldn’t hold up essential public infrastructure

“Farcical” is the only word that can be used for this Government’s decision to rollback the “binding” decision to disband the RSA

Maximum pressure needs to be placed on them to deliver safe roads in the midst of rising road deaths

www.thejournal.ie/rsa-disbande...
Decision to retain RSA criticised as 'farcical' given the 'savage' rise in road deaths this year
The government has been accused of being “deeply unserious” about road safety.

Another day, another rollback of Government commitments

After all our campaigning for an organization focused on road safety, They’ve decided to do nothing in the midst of rising road deaths

What an absolute disgrace

Minister of State with responsibility for roads, Sean Canney, said splitting up the organisation would be very costly.

Engineers, Government Backbenchers, Opposition TD’s, Advocacy Groups and the General Public have all been calling for restoration of the 2:1 spending and public transport delivery

Yet the Ministers continue to focus on roads.. it’s ridiculous

Green Line services have started to resume after two days of disruption, the chaos it caused on the roads shows just how important the Luas is to Dublin Commuters

Imagine how much better Dublin traffic would be if Government actually delivered Luas Finglas/Lucan/Poolbeg & Bray
December 11, 2025 at 6:25 PM
Another Judicial Review ends before getting to the courts with a closed door “mediation agreement” e.g. a payoff

All the while the people of Dublin needlessly sit in congested traffic

Government needs to act now!!

“Damages” ~ noun

Also known as a “payoff” or “bribe”

Description:
A large amount of tax money Government are forced to give selfish NIMBYs who can afford to weaponise the legal system and delay essential transport infrastructure for hundreds of thousands of people
People objecting to infrastructure projects could be offered damages to avoid delays

Mediation on Dec 22nd

High Court Date: March 18th

Gives the Dartmouth 20 three months to squeeze TII while Dublin waits for essential transport infrastructure

Keep an eye out for settlement reports (e.g. payoffs) around Paddy’s day
December 1, 2025 at 6:13 PM
When DublinCommuters confronted Junior Transport Minister Sean Canney’s office with evidence that the delay to the implementation of a 30kmh speed limit would cause preventable deaths, the response from one of his staff was chilling: “That is regrettable.”

The NDP review has been released and it’s not good news

NO funding for Luas Lucan, Poolbeg or Bray before 2030

No inflation matching for Active Travel

No funding for Dart+ South West

AND they admit we wont even meet half the emissions targets for Transport reduction

Decades of underinvestment in public transport amidst the ongoing housing crisis have led to this

Government inaction & in some cases direct obstruction means commuters will continue to suffer behind the wheel, when they could be moving on a train or bus

It’s likely going to be March 2027 before 30kph is rolled out across Urban Areas within Dublin City Council

Minister Canney could implement it at the stroke of a pen if he wanted by setting the default speed limit from 50kph to 30kph
