It does - and for each one who died, countless more came home broken - physically or mentally.

The memorials often say 'lest we forget' but as we witness the rise of the far right across the globe, it brings it home that perhaps we have.

As ever only @bylinesnetwork.co.uk following the actual story. Whilst the main media concentrates on Mandelson and Andrew the real political story is the uncomfortable truth we always knew - Brexit and the rise of the right didn't come from within Britain but from those seeking to weaken the UK.
A decade on, Brexit still damages the UK’s economy, security and standing. The Epstein files sharpen an uncomfortable truth: democracy wasn’t subverted by “the people”, but by those who fear democratic limits most.

Remembrance doesn’t need a date in the diary or flags on lamp posts. There are memorials in every city, town and village, on streets and in churchyards and fields. Some are elaborate, others modest. They don't demand attention, they wait for you to notice them.

Remembrance is not just for November
Memorials can be for specific events that took a life or lives but also give us the chance to remember all those who gave their lives for our freedom

Remembrance isn’t something that belongs only to one quiet morning in November.

Memory lives in places, stories and moments we pass every day – often without noticing.
