Yet another reason why our politicians should get the hell off that site. While it was Gary Gannon's fault for not checking his facts, the avalanche of mis/disinformation makes it too easy for things like that to happen.
A forensic look on X suggests the wrongful claim about Alan Shatter and Jeffrey Epstein - subsequently shared by Gary Gannon TD, who has now paid damages - was first posted by a little-known ‘news outlet’ solely sharing ethnonationalist content

A vivid example of how disinformation gets to the top

Ireland, Day 1056 of The Rain. Everything is saturated to the grey of the sky. Moss covers every surface. The outdoors sounds like constant static. The entire staff of Met Éireann is on mental health leave. I’ve forgotten what dry clothes feel like.

It is still a yellow weather alert.

This is why you don't see the Irish government or other European governments speaking out about what's happening in the US. Sure, they are watching it carefully but watching with a certain amount of envy, to see how much they can get away with and how they can emulate them.

This one did for me. Can you imagine the planning, the excitement, the preparation, the "only three more sleeps"? Then the dream day finally arrives and all of that is swept away in an instant. Instead of Disney you end up in a prison. That poor kid.

I really love dogs but harsh as it seems I'd rather they stayed lost if the only alternative is mass surveillance. It isn't of course, because this isn't really about dogs.

5 days modestly gallivanting around Ireland (Total pints consumed = 1) and the bill was the equivalent of a cocaine orgy in Iceland or Japan.

How the giddy fuck does anyone on a normal (Stand fast economists! You know what I mean) wage have any chance?

- 81% want the government to build more social housing "even if there are local objections"

- 64% disagree government is making progress on housing

- 67% would vote for a constitutional right to housing

- 29% are personally affected by the housing crisis
