to have an affair with one longshot presidential candidate twice your age that you’re profiling may be regarded as a misfortune; to have two looks like carelessness

Antisemitism is a lot like Qanon child abuse conspiracies in that there’s this real and bad phenomenon and, parallel to that, what can only be described as a large scale mass psychosis about a mostly fictional version of the same phenomenon

here's the thing: the epstein files absolutely have to include the virginia giuffre allegations which are already out. she met epstein at mar-a-lago, where she worked. she committed suicide in april of this year, after donald trump was elected president.

People and the media have accepted it as a normal political discussion that good people can disagree on but it’s straight up sociopath shit to take away someone’s healthcare and I don’t really have time for anyone who feels differently

popularism is like the most banal politics 101 idea in the abstract. I don’t trust most of its top proponents because they are quite obviously seething with anti woke resentment and/or have ulterior motives

This is something that really unites both liberals and leftists here because while we all have concerns about *who*, exactly, should be let in the tent, I don't think anyone thinks the Silicon Valley eugenics types belong.
The dirty little secret of the Very Smart Boys running big chunks of the Democratic Party is that they have no problem with race science and fascism. They do not understand why Marc Andreessen is more objectionable than Mitt Romney

that's as close as it gets to a core purpose. the point is to destroy a system that followers believe they can't win at. if you're ignorant, tear down knowledge instead of learning. if you're not funny, make cruelty the punchline. if women don't like you, make them dependent until they have to etc.
I don't think it's fully appreciated just how much Trumpism is a celebration of ignorance. Trump not only never learns but proactively avoids it. It's a braindead movement from the top down.

really funny reaction to a paragraph about a group chat that was too reactionary for Richard Hanania
I am inspired by progressive social media users' relentlessness about trying to shrink the tent.

yes because the beltway media are complicit in all of this
One of the wilder political things in recent history is that Project 2025 publicly released a 900 page document laying out their plans to roll back 100 years of human progress and then during the campaign Republicans just said "no we're not :)" and then they won and now they're doing it all.
My god. He’s gone after the Civil Rights Act!!!!

I'm seeing people who don't live in NYC look at this photo and bemoan the lack of a vision for the city from leadership, but the reason for this is a lot less lofty - there's a bunch of people who spend all their time yelling at electeds about parking and driving, and electeds who agree with them.

its a good illustration for how in-the-tank the media is for Cuomo and how reliant Cuomo is on the narrative of inevitability. Normally they'd react to a no-show debate-dodging candidate by pulling the knives out but most are still running coverage as if he's already mayor.
Cuomo is a coward who will only appear at forums when he is standing alone by himself and other candidates are unable to question his incredibly bad record and lack of ethics or competence.

He literally got planners to change the forum for him. www.politico.com/newsletters/...

People might think this is an exaggeration but it’s a literal description of what happened in New York, where Cuomo partnered with a small group of turncoat democrats to hand control of the NY Senate to Republicans

My bold proposal: make this website suck ass
Bluesky needs more ideological diversity, a thread:

1/8: I think the question of why commentators like Matt Yglesias, Lakshya Jain, Noah Smith, Nate Silver and Richard Hanania don’t post more, or at all on Bluesky is important.

This would be a better platform if they did.
I like posting on BlueSky because I think I’m the most right-wing person who uses this service.

p straightforward thesis: zero-sum political culture (“if something good happens to someone else, that is bad for me”) is symptomatic of an intuited, internalized, usually unconscious understanding that - economically - you aren’t building or creating anything at all, just dividing up spoils

What’s wild is that none of these guys would say “happy to contribute to the greater good” if this was about raising their taxes 0.01% to pay for a universal free school lunch program, they just say it about the thing that doesn’t help anyone and is being done for no reason
incredible things are happening.
