I am here to complain about the Toronto Maple Leafs and societal decline

I think a lot of people think the point of sports is that your team will win and then you will be happy. That is not the point of sports. The point of sports is to be sad in a group
I won't claim to know all the complexities, but if a separatist Alberta runs its government the way it's handled its insurance market, it will be the world's coldest banana republic within 18 months

i love how each time Canada loses at the WJC we have to have a national autopsy over how we are Failing The Game, ignoring that Canada has five players who didn't go because they're already NHL regulars, including two guys who are very clearly going to be superstars

Canada, like other western states, is worried about alienating Trump. But that just invites isolation next time, when it's your turn over the barrel, and everyone else stays silent for fear of alienating Trump.

Democracies worthy of the name must stand together for the rule of law, or fall apart.

Democrats get treated as the Annoying Mom party, Republicans as the Cool Dad party, no matter how obscene and ridiculous the outcome

He's not a superstar but I have to say Stecher seems too good to have been on waivers

growing concerned that the United States is not the benign force in Central and South America that I've been led to believe

Was at the game last night, and while I don't have trenchant insights, the beauty of social media is I get to share them anyway

1. My God, the Leafs defence is a fucking nightmare for breakout passing. We all knew they would be, we all know they are, but Benoit's bad at it and Myers is much worse

It is time to stop playing Philippe Myers

After going through a bunch of year-end lists I think this was a pretty weak year for independent music and part of the buzz around the Geese album was that it was seen as saving 2025 at the end

I leave a lot of room for homage and all that but every effort by others to tack on to C and H after this has felt like spitting on the actual comic, which earned this 100% and then cashed it in
31 December 1995. Still the perfect goodbye.

getting skunked by this version of the Leafs ought to prompt some severe introspection for the Devils. you really gotta talk to the man in the mirror after that one.

It's a real testament to the quality of this album that it stays good even after you go on antidepressants youtu.be/CuqEpjcBfaU?...

this feels like the fifth or sixth time this year that the leafs have won 1.5 games and been like "We've turned a corner. We're really executing in a way we weren't before." and then they lose while getting outshot 63-8

deeply annoying whenever space colonization comes up as a potential idea because a) it's extremely cool to me and b) it will never, ever, ever be viable at all

people love to rain on Pitchfork and they've always been a mile up their own asses, but also the number of music outlets with interesting writing is just dwindling

Bluesky was generally better when we all more or less agreed to simply block dumb accounts and move on rather than quote dunk on them for clout.
