The Guardian newspaper once called me a "Guerrilla Satirist" and the premier of Newfoundland and Labrador once called me "an arsehole."

Former journalist. Artist. Writer. Comms guy.

A distinct McLeod family approach to roasting the turkey is the use of a stand-alone electric roaster, on the back deck.

It's -9° here but the bird is cooking away.

I'm going to toss this into the Christmas dinner conversation with mom and dad, like a hand grenade.

The patties at Bloor-Yonge while transferring lines are great, too.

My only real quibble with this chart is that long distances are actually measured in hours.
The only true way is the Canadian way

(As much as I wish it was a joke, it is in fact not one and this is exactly how it works here)

Your dad likes motion smoothing. He turns it back on after you leave.

He's not saying anything about it because he loves you and he doesn't want to get in an argument about it.

Took an Uber home for getting a vasectomy.
I don’t give a shit about your accomplishments this year. What’s the dumbest shit you did the past 12 months? The truly stupidest decision you made in 2025?

Im just over 50% of the way through Oryx and Crake, and I'm starting to wonder if this book is maybe a lot more impressive to people who don't normally read sci-fi.

If for no other reason than morale in the national public service and general state capacity, it would sure be nice if there was a high level of quality and competence in Ottawa municipal public services.

And yet...
The newly opened Kìwekì Point panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Ottawa River behind the National Art Gallery has apparently been damaged by a snow plow

FYI, Toronto Sceptres games have excellent energy.

The only hockey worth paying for in the city.

Imagine seriously believing that "the increasing use of the notwithstanding clause" is in any way comparable to what the Trump administration is doing.
Oh and I forgot Danielle Smith. I'm just saying, the increasing frequency of the notwithstanding clause and various sketchy policy moves happening across the country with minimal consequences for the politicians suggests the Canadian electorate might be a bit sleepy.

Philip is right, and it's the fact that there's no widespread outrage or objection to this — among elites and among the electorate — that makes me think that America is a lost cause.
This is as easy a test of your belief in the American system as is conceivable: Should this be an acceptable argument from a president?
