“ought by right go to American citizens”
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

According to the car wash owner, agents arrested employees before they could obtain their documentation from their work lockers. So many were likely here legally.

Here's hoping this article on Zac boasting about how he ruined some immigrants' lives follows him around for a very long time.

Suddenly antiliberals who defined “liberalism” to include pretty much the entire American political tradition — from Jeffersonian republicanism to Reagan fusionism, and everything in between — are quite particular about what counts under the recently manufactured concept of “postliberalism.”

Imagine if Dems in the Senate hadn't caved. The House wouldn't be in session rn, the discharge petition wouldn't be signed, people wouldn't have SNAP, govt workers would be RIF'd & the GOP would have some decent talking points. But also online rage addicts would be happier! YMMV!

Raise your hand you think evidence of Trump’s involvement with Epstein’s abhorrent debauchery will meaningfully damage Trump?

The GOP in 2015 thought Trump was just a blip, so what mattered was who'd get Trump's voters once he flamed out. The Press thought they needed to be clear that future-President Hillary wasn't getting a coronation. McConnell thought he was finished after 1/6 so they didn't have to hang him.

It's kind of the same Trump problem every time: people assume he's cooked, so they prioritize managing the backlash (here by being relentlessly scrupulous and above suspicion of partisanship by slow-walking the case) only to get blindsided by the fact that Trump wasn't cooked.

why is Larry S emailing Jeffrey E in the fall of 2018?!?! is this a new information that wasn’t available during the “Democrats are destroying the economy” campaign he waged during Biden presidency in 22/23?

fascinating how much more precise and deadly this headline is vs “Emails Allege Trump Knew of Epstein’s Victims.” and both are based on the same source material!

Incredibly fitting that the premier GOP expert on health care policy these days is Rick Scott. Literal distillation of graft-as-governing philosophy.
I mean anytime you're presented with a plan by the guy whose company made a whole bunch of money by committing Medicaid fraud, you have to vote for it.
Rick Scott told me his plan would be to take all of the remaining ACA subsidies and redistribute them to HSA accounts and people can then buy whatever insurance a state certifies. Basically a repeal/replace.
He denied when I asked wouldn’t that create two-tiered system where sick pay much more…

“I will not vote or donate to democrats because I disagree how a minority of them voted on a tactical question a year before the midterms” is a wrecker behavior just like “there’s no difference between Kamala and Trump” in 2024, and “we’ll be fine whoever wins” in 2016.

would love to learn what does this actually mean? Schumer and Jeffries going underground and starting a paramilitary? Bombing vital infrastructure routes? Should they try storming the CBS during the live news broadcast?!?!

Now there are very valid reasons for Dems to still force a shutdown over what is a practical nonstarter; I did and do support those

But in no way is this "denying a majority party support"

Either you think civil servants should be unpaid until Jan 27, or there was gonna be a 'fold' at some point

That bill, among other things, nuked the ACA subsidies. Current Republican members of congress voted for it, by a majority, in both chambers

The ostensible dem ask for the shutdown was for these GOP pols to reverse the vote they all took 5 months ago

That was, I'd contend, a nonstarter

okay so I'm going to explain this as simply as I can

The GOP passed a bill using the reconciliation process last summer. This allowed them to pass it on a simple majority vote in the Senate, a thing which usually requires a 60 vote threshold as a practical matter, bc Senate rules are very stupid
