Schrodinger's refugees: simultaneously hordes of 'men of fighting age', and also families with children.
BBC News: "the government believe refugees are deliberately bringing their children to avoid deportation"

As opposed to doing what with their children??

It’s so fascinating watching certain people performatively pretend that this is good. Maybe AI will get better than weird shapeshifting Friends at some point, but these people are pretending to enjoy this now and acting like we’re the odd ones for noticing that it sucks.
AI sitcom accidentally a Lynchian fever dream. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and insane lament.

Jenrick casting 1980s British football hooliganism as something that was easily dealt with by police and not an era defining issue which we're still living with the consequences of today... He's genuinely the most unserious person in British politics rn

The Chinese spying scandal has raised some crucial questions, such as, “Can you explain it for a fifth time, please, but more slowly, because I still don’t really get what’s happened?”

Just to say that teachers do an incredibly difficult job, with all the right intentions, and can be the defining influence on a young person's life. They are the exact opposite of poisoners because good teaching provides the antidote to so many dangers

I do rinse my plates but Fairy did used to say in their adverts that you could leave the suds on so it’s no wonder Americans think we are all eating soap.
Apparently, not everyone (those based in the UK, specifically) rinses the suds off their dishes after washing them. nyti.ms/42jIooE

Large parts of the English press and radicalised X users are increasingly out of touch with public opinion.
Polling on Lucy Connolly tweet following her release finds that 35% think her sentence too harsh, but the majority of Brits: 52% say it was about right or too lenient. Most 2024 Reform voters say too harsh, Tory voters split harsh or lenient/about right. Most Labour/LD/Green the latter

Entering an era where the time capsules buried in my childhood are going to be opened, which is very funny to me. Did everyone think we'd forget who Kylie Minogue was in just a few decades? www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Princess Diana 90s time capsule contains Kylie CD and pocket TV
The time capsule was buried in 1991 to mark the laying of the foundation stone at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

fundamentally the problem is that if you think "hotels are where I stay on holiday and I like being on holiday so living in a hotel must be fun and it's not fair others get to do it and not me" then you have the intellectual reasoning of a little child and it's going to be hard to engage with you

I really like the Swedish church but it does also look like a Big Tesco.
Logistical feat: Historic Swedish church moved to allow expansion of Europe's biggest underground mine

I have not heard anything at all from government ministers nor the opposition nor many media outlets about the dangers of this epidemic of sweeping casual racism. It is sometimes seen as comical - as with Rupert Lowe and the rowers - but it is dangerous and dehumanising

Let's just be brutally honest here, this "guidance", if enacted as reported, affects everyone. It in absolutely no way "protects" anyone. Unless you fit the stereotype set forth by the likes of Rowling et al and their bunch of transphobic flying monkeys you get targeted. 1/
Ok, so we’re really doing this (archive Times link indicating that the EHRC guidance on single sex spaces will be just as unworkable as the draft). archive.ph/taXyE

I did really well! Picking up new hobbies in adulthood and actually sticking with them, 10/10, would recommend.
In a week I am going into my first ever ballet exam. Do the thing you didn’t get to do as a child, it’s brilliant.
