Something absolutely perfect about Larry Summers riffing about the scourge of woke cancel culture being unfair to predatory men in a friendly email to his pal JEFFREY EPSTEIN.

On this Veterans Day, I pay special tribute to those who served, especially the trans service members, only to have Whiskey Pete Hegseth shit all over their service because he's an insecure, inadequate right wing white man.

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

Dave, you can’t count a book as read if it was an audio book. You didn’t read it you listened to it. Two fundamentally different ways to ingest media. We as a country, need to stop people from saying they “read” 50 books this year when they actually listened to them. Absolute fraudulent behavior.

Which Windbreaker was it? I’ve worried about this.
i’m ok with being out on blast in “books” penned by the deeply bitter and washed up. latest comes courtesy of a troubled troubadour some would say squandered his talent, but truth be told, there wasn’t much there to begin with

In-patient addiction treatment is tens of thousands of dollars and the younger you go, the more it's likely to take.
DeSantis said “Most people, particularly under 50, what they really need is a catastrophic plan that’s affordable, where then they can pay whatever they’re doing out of a health savings account.”

Ron DeSantis says people under 50 don’t have much use for comprehensive health insurance
'Catastrophic care' should be enough for them.

Friend once called Unitarianism the “put $20 on Black” of Christian denominations. If I wasn’t so trauma-bonded to my own Fake Buddhism, though, it’d likely be a consideration. We take our kid to Christmas mass there for some vague reason.
Amazing that so many responses are like "that's UU. You're just a Unitarian."
Mainline protestantism as a way of organizing for goodness has been increasingly appealing to me, but I have no idea how the churches would feel about having basically fake congregants, lol.

And I’ve traded in any chance at stability for this community of people who, like,
Know what Black Flag is, or whatever"-FT
Feels weird to say since he's a homie, but Fred Thomas can completely murder me with one line. For modern songwriters, hard to beat.

Also, not be a boomer, but Dylan, Joni, Neil, Carole, Sir Paul (among others): all still alive. That dull millennial solipsist isn't even in her generation's Top 20.
I also need to know: I am fairly middle-of-the-road on Taylor Swift but someone I know called her the Greatest Living Lyricist. She is not.

Who is yours? Either the greatest or your favorite?

People tend to see Hegseth as still a drinker but to me he looks like a classic dry drunk
They said Hegseth is becoming increasingly “obsessed” with his own security and exhibits frenzied behavior, such as fidgeting and pacing during meetings.

“Dude is crawling out of his skin,” another source said.

hating both republicans and democrats is actually a perfectly “normal” rightwing ideology (look at the tea party)

our "lone gunman" culture is just such a fucking societal death spiral. the episodes all run together, to the point where I can very vivdly remember watching Kirk himself going over the logistics of the Butler assassination attempt w/ Cory Mills at the RNC, using a Milwaukee hotel for reference.
