To the extent my country is exceptional it is because we are a country of all people and none. The world made manifest. A nation of nations. A people united in truly radical ideas of freedom, equality, and justice for all. Any attempt to undo this is treason and also seeks to make us ordinary.

Vice President JD Vance gets roundly booed at the opening ceremony of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympics. "Those are a lot of boos for him, whistling jeering," says the presenter. US athletes receive a warm welcome from fans, though.

Regardless of your preference in IL-09 between Biss and Kat Abu, it says a lot about where the Democratic Party is heading that a frontrunner in a tight race is proudly committed to cosponsoring a bill designed to block military assistance to Israel and is making AIPAC his #1 enemy.

Honestly, I think voters just think "meaner" automatically means more competent unless the politician is a woman (bitch!) or black (scary!).
Look, obviously aren't responsible for what their President says, and what the rest of the party eagerly agrees with.

Not that people should neglect the hazards here, but I'd really prefer the term "tradwife" becoming useless to Christofascists because of it being colonized by Bridgerton fans

It's tricky how mainstreaming right wing aesthetics/language has the simultaneous effect of weakening it but spreading the ideological disease much further (as seen with a lot of 4chan memes). I think with the project of disempowering women, it's on the net helpful to turn it into a camp performance

Yeah, it’s possible the dilution is a good thing, but it does feel like the seeds are being planted for a retreat on gender equality
Tbh seems like the term is getting diluted to a pinterest core aesthetic of learning how to make pickles at home, which is probably for the best

Like, if you’re happy being “a tradwife” but are fine with other women working, you aren’t a tradwife, right?

I did say to her “you’re not a tradwife” but this was at a crowded family table so conversation flowed before I could elaborate. But the general understanding around the table was about tradwife being a lifestyle you choose, which is oxymoronic

A secondary sad thing is how much “tradwife” has been absorbed by wider culture as just meaning “stay at home Mum”. My Stepsister referred to herself as being a bit of a tradwife lately, which surprised me.
I don't know how many girls got psyoped into thinking being strong and independent was loser shit and the tradwife life was all fun and games, but any number above zero is too many.

Today my taxes will go to *spins wheel* destroying Canada.
lol: “We’re All Canadians Now” 🏒

This sounds outrageous but is not unprecedented, as my book Shell Shocked shows:

“Recent revelations that U.S. officials have been meeting w/ Albertan separatists have indicated that Trump administration may not have given up on the idea of Canada’s dissolution”

Obviously as a trans person, I am not a fan. But I admit I thought there were more degrees of separation between Harry Potter lady and Robert Mugabe.
Robert Mugabe, Jay-Z and Pusha T are mentioned

What a weird reaction to a huge conspiracy of tech leaders and academic scientists raping kids and promoting race science.

Chose monogamy. No other implication there, no siree.
Does "any of this nonsense" mean a child sex trafficking network designed to regularly facilitate the statutory rape of minors here? 🤔

If post-brexit reporting is anything to go by We’re in for like a decade of articles profiling bovine middle-aged voters lamenting the loss of benefits and services while never getting pressed on why they voted they way they did

Probably just a coincidence, but everyone described or photographed in this WaPo story (about low-income voters who are sure Trump doesn't mean taking benefits away from *them*) appears to be white.

Polls of the American electorate always read like:

Do you approve of Trump's immigration policies?
27% yes, 73% no

Do you want to attack Greenland?
3% yes, 97% no

Which party do you trust more on the border?
72% R, 28% D

Which party do you trust more on national security?
87% R, 13% D

Solomon Andrews gets into airships a few years earlier and is thus able to showcase his Aereon earlier than in OTL. The Union Army takes him up on his offer and the Balloon Corps does more research and testing into his design. Although these airships don't change the course of the Civil War 1/
Incidentally, this is about the only situation where airships would have a chance to exist as practical transportation and military technology. At least until internal combustion engines are refined sufficiently for fixed wing aircraft to supplant them.

Look we already had GenX 1.0 and they all turned into some of Trump's strongest soldiers. We don't need a repeat.
Jesus Christ, at a certain point Gen Z has *got* to give up on this weird combination of antipathy and malaise that seems to be the only way so many of them are capable of engaging with politics.
This is a bold position for a voter guide to take

I feel also things are different when so much is at your finger tips. Kate Bush coming on the radio randomly hits different than running my Kate Bush radio on Spotify.
I feel like at some point the nostalgia cycle is going to break because the difference between say, a PS3 and a PS5 or Star Wars and Star Wars: Reverse Quadruple Unspecialized Special Edition just isn’t noticeable enough for the past to feel, well… past.
