Baseball Prospects at Baseball Prospectus

I wrote about a system so thin I started making Dr. Seuss jokes instead of trying to ordinally rank the 5th round sixth year college senior closer against the 4th round up and down bench outfielder in the teens www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/ar...

Top-heavy is a common descriptor for farm systems, but it's truer here than in most places.

I probably should have watched more hockey over the last 30 years but I guess I had to be emotionally ready.

Got back to my hotel. Group got on elevator same time. Man (probably mid 40’s) sees a drink on the floor of elevator. Says it looks “brand new. Ice isn’t even melted.”
Him and his girl both start drinking it. “It’s great. Rum and Coke!”
THE FLOOR DRINK!
THE DRINK FOUND ON THE FLOOR OF AN ELEVATOR!

I’m done with the fun systems for a bit, now writing things like “This is the most Rockies Day 2 college arm/Role 4 that won’t actually get there ever.” And folks I’ve seen a lot of them.

Every year I say I am gonna spend less time mucking around with the order of guys outside of the top ten and then I never do. Doesn’t help when you have a glut of good but samey prospects like the Brewers. www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/ar...

Three WARP is hidden in unexpected places, at least for this organization.

Two back-to-back champions also boast one of the deeper farm systems in baseball.

Prospect writing is constantly reminding you of your own incessant aging but also I feel like I was just taking Matt Carasiti notes for the Yard Goats.

One of the things I get from the list work is learning what’s playing on the soundtrack of minor league parks this year. A lot of uh heavily edited Kendrick so far.

Well, we had a good run folks.

Somebody asked the group chat who the most Braves-coded manager was and well there he is.

That’s right.
My congratulations to all Baseball Perverts. It was their "super bowl" last night and it seems they all had a very bad time (in their culture that's how you have a good time)

I think the thing that actually gets missed here is the Dodgers will just spend the money on ops or stuff like their African facility. The Rockies and White Sox will keep drafting whatever college bats in the second and third round while the Dodgers draft Charles Davalan and Landyn Vidourek.
This will go great right up until Elon Musk or a middle eastern sovereign wealth fund for whom the equivalent of a half a billion loss every year is your streaming subscriptions buys a team
Massively increase revenue sharing such that local TV deals don't make it possible for the dodgers to continue to match every offer made by every team.

I have a weird baseball high after this series and oh yeah the Dodgers prospect list kicks off things Wednesday (with something like nine Top 101 candidates) so hopefully the Adrenalin lasts the next four months

It would have been an endlessly litigated ending, but also man Will Smith made a hash of his footwork there (granted I assume he was very very tired)
Left this morning with one thought: We were an inch away from having the World Series end on a replay review.

Yeah there was a lot of wild stuff crammed into like forty minutes of actual game time, but of all of them I think watching the Pages catch in real time was the one that broke me, and I didn’t really care who won (sorry Craig and Dad)
So many WTF plays at the end:
1. Miggy's HR
2. Miggy's throw home.
3. Pages' catch.
4. Yamamoto on ZERO days rest.
5. Will Dill's HR.
6. Double Play!?

Woke up and my first thought was: How the fuck did the Dodgers win that game

Finally, a uniform that pays tribute to Utah's air quality.

Craig is doing bedtime. Patrick has to bring a child to a piano lesson, and I’m coming back from a five year old’s dance class, but this will be happening soon.

I did not bother calling my father during extra innings last night since I figured he’d be asleep, but despite having a horrible head cold he stayed up for all 18 innings. Still think the Dodgers are more likely to kill Craig this week though.

Yeah. I think he’s basically Votto right now, plus has the playoff stuff.
