And I REALLY need establishment democrats to understand that if Trump's immigration shit is *this* unpopular when most of the dems are hiding under their bed, afraid to actually fight?

Y'all could fucking *crush him* if you showed up with a strong moral vision.

This is so so sad.

And I don’t see many people talking about the student loan shit they jammed in that bill. They’ve ensured only the rich can go the college. They capped the amount you can borrow over 4 years AND cut Grad Plus loans (which is how I paid my rent during law school).

Name names. Not a single DC politician is impacted by these healthcare cuts. They need to start playing the game like they will be.

I don’t want to hear about decorum, protecting the institution, or your relationships. I need to know that you’re throwing everything at the wall. Stop playing nice.

Then we need Democrats on the Hill who will tell leadership to fuck off. It’s a five-alarm fire, the house is engulfed in flames, and they are standing here limiting people to only one firehose.
Also, Brian Beutler wrote about more things the House minority can do.

"In conversations with senior aides and members, it’s become clear that some D's on Capitol Hill want to do more, and have ideas about how to do more, but feel stymied by the leadership, which wants to proceed cautiously.'

Theatrics are communication.

Any elected official willing to get in the game, even if it doesn't WORK, is communicating with us. To do that is to say this isn't normal, it's not ok, and I'm with you.

In the absence of that communication, the other guys control all of the narrative.

Zohran Mamdani is saying things like “poverty is a policy choice and politicians have a duty to their constituents to make their lives affordable” and it is making a lot of politicians very very scared that they may actually have to start doing some actual service in their public service jobs.

Democratic voters are desperate for a party that actually reflects who we are and what we care about, but all we get from the current leadership group is scolding, condescension, and contempt.

It’s hard to overstate how angry rank and file Dems are at the Dem establishment right now. And if I were a self-preservationist incumbent I would take note.

You can't literally primary everyone.

But you can make everyone afraid of being primaried, and that will change a lot.

Dems on the national and state level should look no further than Zohran Mamdani/Brad Lander for what the party can be, the type of candidates to run, and how to run progressive campaigns that are popular with demographics they claim to struggle to reach. Regressive, centrist politics aren’t the way.

I think what establishment democrats need to understand is that most of us hate them all very much for being so persistently useless and shitty in our time of desperation and it fills our hearts with hope and joy when someone who might not be those things beats them.

Something the Mamdani win demonstrates is the extent to which the reigning cadre of ancient, establishment, centrist Dems think it’s more important to be on good terms with their GOP colleagues than it is to represent their own voters, and how thoroughly sick of this literally everyone is.

I don’t know, peeps, but I just keep coming back around to the idea that what so many people want is a hopeful vision of a better world, with autonomy, dignity, & respect for all, affordability of food/shelter, education, medical care, clean air/water, & a place in a community. That’s the message.

Something I am thinking about right now is that a 3 million dollar program that allows abused women to take their pets with them to domestic violence shelters is about to be cut because “we don’t have the money” but the government is about to spend 1000000000x more than that to bomb people

What the F. I saw it here earlier & agree: I think Dems need to establish a de Gaulle type of shadow anti-fascist government.
But let’s be clear: Schumer ISN’T the guy. Jeffries can be Comms, but he’s not it either. Dems need to strip down & call out: younger members MUST lead now. NOW.
ABC’s Jay O’Brien is reporting that republicans in Congress were briefed ahead of the strikes, but that democrats were not briefed until after the attack was underway.
