We ALL know that's Ricky Martin singing in front of the bananas

He's singing "Lo Que Le Pasó a Hawaii," an anti-statehood song that holds up Hawaii as a cautionary tale (as already established, Benito is pro independence)

Omg this is so good I missed this! VERY intentional shot lingering on two men grinding on each other

Throughout his career Benito has been an ally to the LGBTQ community and has tried to push back against the machismo prevalent in Latin music

Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the Taínos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous

The FDA recently approved the birth control implant Nexplanon for use up to five years, instead of three. But to providers' surprise, it also placed the device under a special monitoring protocol called REMS, which is infamous for the way it has limited access to medication abortion.

This birth control implant has been on the market since 2011 without these added restrictions. The FDA can impose them later if there's new safety information but the manufacturer said in its own release that the clinical trial data it submitted revealed “no new safety findings” 👀 @autonomynews.co

ICYMI: bad
NEW: Trump's FDA recently approved Nexplanon for five years of use, but it quietly added extra regulations that leave some providers worried about access. The agency imposed a REMS program that only exists for 73 other drugs—including medication abortion.

Many providers did not yet know about the REMS when I contacted them.

Ok, you can stop texting me, I saw the Ring ad. Troubling things about it 🧵:

-The long awaited (much warned about) intro of “AI” recognition. It starts w/ searching for a “brown dog” but means the tech is there for lisence plate reading, face recognition, searching for suspects by description, etc

I'm hardly the first person to note this, but it's enormously instructive that our President and his followers saw the message "THE ONLY THING MORE POWERFUL THAN HATE IS LOVE" and understood it, correctly, as an attack on them
What a moment.
