"I mean, how is any of this a surprise?"

It's not. I called all of this, including that it was supposed to be last week. It's still terrible and upsetting and this is why I'm going to go unplug my modem now.

This right here:

“Not introducing articles of impeachment is a message that Trump hasn't committed impeachable offenses.”
How are voters meant to understand how serious things are if in lieu of shouting fire AND going into building with hoses, you're simply posting fire safety suggestions on social media?
Not introducing articles of impeachment is a message that Trump hasn't committed impeachable offenses.

Can't help but feel like this is one of the reasons why the Constitution says If a dude in office does an insurrection, don't let that motherfucker hold office again

Bc clearly they cannot be trusted with power & control over the levers of government, & they do not care about democratic constraints

it doesn't raise questions. it signals that the president is a violent fascist imperialist and war criminal.

you're allowed to say that? like, you can just come out and fucking say it. don't be such fucking cowards, for fuck's sake.
President Trump’s actions today with Venezuela raise more questions than answers. Is America going to be involved in running and stabilizing Venezuela? Today's actions raise many questions about the stability of the region and our policy towards South America.

This is it. "What do you think calling your electeds will do?"

Make them feel about me the same way everyone who's ever defaulted on student loans feels about their voicemail.
Ask not what your representative will do for you (nothing), ask how you can make your representative so miserable they quit their job
My attitude on this is that I'm not calling them because I think I can change their minds.

I'm calling them because it is unthinkable to let them do this without hearing how evil and awful they are.

My spite powers me. If I can get just 500 people a day to join me, we could fuck up their day.

My ~15 sec script:

I'm MyName, a constituent in ZipCode, and I'm *appalled*. [MyShittyCongressman must cosponsor articles of impeachment for] / [MyShittySenators must support impeachment of] the president for unconstitutional acts in Venezuela. The only response I need is to see this action taken.
You don't have to give a big speech. They're counting numbers - seeing how many constituents care enough to call in. Just tell them to impeach for this illegal war. Also, make sure you only call YOUR reps - they don't care about out-of-district calls.

You can do this. It'll just take a minute. 💪

This dynamic is so common and Emma nails it. The pressure is on the non-assholes to stay quiet and keep the peace, and it often comes in the form of blame for reacting to the asshole & aggressively minimizing what you’re reacting to.
After reading so many online stories, I see one thing many people seem to miss in one dynamic

When a family group tries to appease the chronic asshole over the non chronic asshole who finally got sick of their shit and called it out...

it's because they want peace not justice and they're used

Every single human built hell exists because people made it - this is pretty depressing, when you think about it. But it does mean that if we made it, we...can also fix it. It's not natural, it is not an extension of some immutable facet of reality.

We made it up.

We can make up something better.
none of this was by accident. none of the future innovations or changes to the systems that keep us oppressed will be accidents. human hands build better worlds for other humans. we plant trees we will never sit in the shade of for our grandchildren to enjoy. that is the fucking human experience.

We need to repeal the Hague Invasion Act and sign onto the Rome Statute, yes.

Quick note, however—we need to submit to the ICC. The US is subject to the ICJ, as are all full UN member states, but is not a signatory to the Rome Statute, which establishes the ICC.

VP Delcy Rodriguez, whom Trump indicated earlier today was collaborating with the US government, is live on television right now.

Earlier reports that she's in Russia are false. She's in Caracas with the rest of the cabinet.

Rodriguez: "We will never again be a colony for any empire"

It was clear to me that hitting kids was wrong when I realized people will hit their kids but not openly harmful adults.

Anyway, funny how politicians scream about law and order when people march & protest but when politicians openly break the law we're not sure if law applies anymore?

whole thread. CW rape.

what we're seeing with elon's digital rape & CSAM machine is collective gleeful revenge by cis men as a group against women as a group, trans people, and yes even children, for the crime of resisting the status of sexual property. bringing down the boot.
I‘m discontinuing my social media use for the foreseeable future and I want to explain why.

I woke up in the new year to discover that some guy on here had saved photos I took on New Year’s Eve and used Grok to remove my clothes. I know this because he showed me.
