this is a state regulation problem. for instance, my state has regulated this and you can't get but like 1/10th the amount of THC, which is a problem for me
Listen I agree pot should be legal but also it is objectively insane that I can buy this at the grocery store next to the lettuce.

festerman being one of the undertakers of the hemp trade is extremely funny given his political history. Maybe the stroke also destroyed this part of his brain, but legal weed is historically something he actually cared about
But like actually where did the political will to take the hemp industry out back and shoot it come from

can someone tell me why this (weirdly great, creepy, 'authentically' staged with full masks and live instruments, albeit in English) production of the Oresteia is hosted in the Lyndon LaRouche Archive lmao

i liked how Emily Wilson's Iliad makes Agamemnon relatable. he's your asshole boss that didnt get his way and is now fucking you over. he needs nothing but feels slighted and must take on the strongest guy in the room to prove he's still in charge

these are your alphas, how noble their competition
Definitely the two fattest, baldest, most physically laughable fucking nerds on the planet know alpha

Yes, American political parties are weak in their ability to discipline elected officials but are structurally entrenched in the electoral plumbing. Entryism remains the correct play.
Hey, a lot of people are talking about changing affiliation from Democratic to Independent.

Let me tell you why you shouldn’t do that in Colorado.

One of the main ways to get a primary challenge candidate on a ballot is to caucus for your party. You need to be registered as a Dem to caucus.

Truly, people keep being like "oh Rand is shutting it down over hemp, lol"

no, this is recriminalizing an industry with tens of billions of dollars in sales nationwide that millions and millions of americans use
This is not just an intra-party feud. Rand Paul is trying to stop the re-criminalization of hemp nationwide and the effective destruction of the hemp industry. These products are important for veterans with PTSD, especially in states like Texas. Democrats should be working with him on this
Congressional Deal Would Ban Many Hemp THC Products, While Excluding Provisions To Let VA Doctors Recommend Medical Marijuana - Marijuana Moment
Newly released spending legislation negotiated by congressional leaders would federally recriminalize many hemp-derived products. It also excludes provisions previously passed by the House and Senate ...

I really wonder what's up with "and btw we decided to kill the hemp industry that's worth 12 figures of annual revenue nationally." Rand Paul might not be the only person mad about it, there is a LOT of local money to throw at representatives
Massie is a guaranteed no, which means the R's can lose all of like 2 votes in the house, which is always math in that caucus of frothing howler monkeys that can be problematic.
November 10, 2025 at 3:59 PM
to be clear: yes, i think "democrats are 100% on board with the methods and outcomes of draconian immigration enforcement and mostly just dislike the optics" is wrong and you're a fucking idiot for posting like this in November 2025
November 10, 2025 at 3:53 PM
yeah, one way or another, if the party isn't ready to govern the Senate by majority rules in 2028 we've failed and have almost no chance at near-term recovery
I agree with all of this, but my big big concern is that Democrats do not have the scruples to end it when they have power and that would be a disastrous outcome given where we are at. If I trusted them to man up and do it then playing it safer for the next year makes more sense.
November 10, 2025 at 3:18 PM
takes that it would've been a clear win if they killed the filibuster make no sense to me:
- we would literally lose short term
- trump would be cheered for personally winning a demand
- we would lose many more things in the next year
- doesn't help much in 27-28 because nothing will be vetoproof

Look I don’t expect you to like the deal- I don’t!- but also it’s goddamn infuriating that your answer to “what else could we get?” has been “who knows? Let’s just keep everything shut down until we feel like we got what we wanted!” without acknowledging the cost of that.

I really don't understand Ossoff's name being thrown around (other than that he was a part of some larger group, along with Slotkin and others, that did talks about this). It seems like it would be actually insane for him to vote yes this year.

this is an odd list and does not sound very confident at all that six of these people will vote for it
November 9, 2025 at 9:23 PM
this feels like there is an actual senate centrist betrayal, but they don't actually have enough votes, and they are hoping that they can generate votes by pushing the "it's all done" message
if only the people who apparently have sources would just fuckin name names.

like josh marshall vague posting is fucking obscene. JUST FUCKING SAY WHO IT IS ALREADY.
