Social Security Workers Are Being Told to Hand Over Appointment Details to ICE
The recent request goes against decades of precedent, and puts noncitizens at further risk of immigration enforcement actions.

Yes! And the media is like this in part BECAUSE they know dems wont give the push back on “bias” or coverage decisions like they get from Rs.
This. It would be really, really great if Democrats would start *consistently* calling out the way that the media is led around like f'ing children by the right-wing hate machine.

Don't just accept the frame. Call out the frame. Force viewers to confront the frame. It's so f'ing basic.
James Talarico: No one's ever asked me about the cost of housing. The only thing the media wants to ask me about are trans athletes.

The only minority destroying this country is the billionaires. Trans people are 1% of the population. We are all focused on the wrong 1%.

i would like to see impeachment articles filed against Noem at this point.

there was maybe a case before we hit shutdown for not doing it because it might negatively affect chances of a deal; that case no longer exists.
Bovino gone for real is the minimum personnel outcome and if that's all we get I will be unhappy.

Bovino+impeach and miss on Noem is an L but an acceptable one.

Bovino+Noem quits or gets fired or gets successfully impeached+removed is a W.

Bovino+Noem+Miller is a big W.

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME
On Thanksgiving, the immigrant children held at the Dilley detention center gathered in the gym for what they thought was a holiday feast.

The kids salivated over a spread of turkey, sandwiches, pastries and pies, a family told me.

But the food wasn’t for detainees — it was for the staff.

WOW. Incredible. This is the case in which DHS claimed that ICE officers had been attacked with a shovel and fired back in self-defense. Evidence since suggests an ICE officer fired through a closed door and struck someone on the other side.

Will DHS retract the prior claims?

Under appreciated factor is the Panic of 1873. If the Republicans had had a more successful domestic economy they might have been able to maintain reconstruction
We killed a quarter of the South’s male population and reduced it to the brink of famine.

It wasn’t a lack of ruthless violence that caused us to fail at Reconstruction later on (we crushed the Klan). It was just plain old exhaustion from war and an economic depression.
👇🎯 @willbunch.bsky.social is right. The reason all the awful & illegal things keep happening in 🇺🇸 politics - from 1865 to now - is because there are never any actual legal, personal, & professional consequences for the awful & illegal things happening in 🇺🇸 politics. That must change this time.

Watch this clip of @booker.senate.gov masterfully question white nationalist Jeremy Carl. Even as Carl tries to distance himself from some of his own racist statements, he defends the white nationalist great replacement theory! (3:40 mark.) Very important to expose this.

Just noticing that the Fulton Co election records search warrant affidavit entirely omits the mental state (“willfully”) required to commit the 1st of the 2 crimes cited. The FBI agent makes it sound like a strict liability crime, which it's not. (Sorry if this has already been widely reported.)

Oh no
Absolutely floored by the quality of an appellate brief I just got. FLOORED.

I mean, if the judge dismisses your lawsuit, and cites a case as the basis, and CITES THAT CASE IN THE WRITTEN JUDGMENT, do you think, maybe, you should discuss the case in your appellate brief?

This episode has been a nightmare for my city and state, but I hope people realize it’s also a profound defeat and political catastrophe for Trump and DHS, who are slinking away having accomplished nothing. Minneapolis simply wouldn’t bend to them and they lost

These people have not at all thought hard about what “scarcity” is or how it operates in todays economy. Even a super intelligent AGI system (which we are unlikely to get soon IMO) would face PHYSICAL resource constraints to truly ending scarcity
Still all in on this TBH.

I am not an ostrich. AI obviously is having a material impact on a few sectors of the economy, but it's going to take more than a breathless blog post by someone who WORKS FOR AN AI START-UP to make me go full Butlerian Jihad.
