It's not over, folks. If you want Democrats to stand up for healthcare AND snap benefits, reach out to them and tell them what you need. Call the eight turncoats. Call your representative. Email them. Blast them on social media.
We still have time to get through to them.
We still have time to get through to them.
Is the shutdown over? Not yet.
Tonight’s vote was only step 1 of 5.
There’s still another 60-vote hurdle, amendments, AND then the House.
Pressure matters right now—especially on Kaine, Rosen, Hassan, Shaheen.
Stay loud.

Democrats spent the last two decades acquiescing to a party that doesn’t care if their constituents suffer and die.
They tried playing chicken with a devil they helped create and lost.

A new study shows rents for low-wage Atlanta tenants are rising *9 times* faster than for wealthy renters.
The affordability crisis is everywhere: housing, healthcare, food, electricity, survival itself.
And the party that won big on "affordability" last week just turned around and surrendered it.

That last line.
MSNBC reported Schumer's office felt that the longer that shutdown went on, the more likely it was that people would start to blame the Dems.
My kingdom for Democrats that don't govern out of fear. I've said it before and I'll say it again: The American people are far braver than their reps.

Read every word & share with everyone you know. This is real life here in Chicago. Americans need to know this grotesque reality & stand with us.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Mamdani’s politics, progressive politics, should be the tiles in the floor on which we stand. what he wants to achieve for New Yorkers (and for everyone, I assume) should represent the BARE MINIMUM of what we expect of every politician who asks us for a job
