“Darth Vader” was an amalgamation of various Imperial Era generals and cyborgs that were combined in histories written centuries after the fact

Wait do I have it correct that Joyce Carol Oates said Musk was a shell of a man with no joy in his life and he totally saw it and said "No I'm not" and now he's searching the titles of different movies he likes and replying "great movie"

Eternal respect for John Malkovich securing the bag for a performance I am certain he delivered in one take from the living room of his Paris pied a terre
Kind of fascinated by the implication from this advert that there is a cohort of people who'd be on the fence about seeing The Hunger Games on stage until they learn that John Malkovich appears via screen.

I think it's true that there were probably more senators than the 8 who wanted out, but that this wasn't a leadership operation

this isn't the kind of language you use if you have institutional support
weirdly honest messaging from the breakaway mod/institutionalist leaders who blew up the party strategy

they're explicitly giving up. "It wasn't working so we quit" that's the message

Well, you heard the man, air traffic controllers. He wants you to quit, and as soon as possible, without worrying about continuity of operations or anything silly like that.
In a new post, President Trump makes various threats and promises to air traffic controllers who have very, very difficult jobs and hold the safety of air travel in their hands.

Arguments that getting SNAP funding and fed workers reinstated are a bad deal because the GOP already has to do all that sounds like arguing negotiating a hostage release is a bad deal because it’s already illegal to take hostages.

The Senate Dem splitters are cowards who gave in way too easily somewhat too soon and also we weren’t doing this forever. Seriously, guys. It was never on the table to do this forever absent Republicans refusing to vote for their own bill, which I suppose they still might over in the House.
This was 110% a glonzo issue for 90% of the bsky poasting population, who was apparently too stupid to do basic math or understand how the US Congress works

Sen. Angus King: "Standing up to Donald Trump didn't work"
November 10, 2025 at 1:39 PM
Going on behind the scenes of all this is nobody has any idea what Trump wants because it seems to change day to day so maybe he gave Johnson the ok to vote and then vetos. Maybe he withdraws his support and the House never even votes on it. Maybe he signs and then reneges and stops SNAP anyway

This all reminds me of the campaign to remove Biden. Things got real toxic on here for a while and it was unbearable. At least all this infighting is a year out from elections instead of a couple months.

So now that there apparently is a deal, and the House Dems oppose it, I’m falling back to my position from March, which is that I get why the Senate Dems did what they did but Schumer may be one of the worst politicians of my lifetime.
I called my senators to tell them not to fold without getting something real in return, and I still think that’s right, but the GOP has spent the past month shooting hostages and they don’t seem interested in stopping so I get the case for caving too. Federal workers need to get paid, etc.
