Has had race reassignment surgery, TWICE, already faked his own death at least once, has been to space, killed a *different* dude who had race reassignment surgery, and once toppled the government of a small island nation that was also a voodoo cult that was also a heroin smuggling operation.

The best running gag on Kill James Bond was when November would note that he’s the same guy. The man who in the 2000s competed in a high stakes poker tournament against a criminal banker? Same guy went to space.

It also has the feel of making someone who is easily confused and frightened more comfortable.

So they voted for a bill, the bill funds SNAP but that doesn’t count because it wasn’t the stated reason for the shutdown so even though SNAP is funded, and it’s funded by the bill democrats voted for, democrats did not vote to fund SNAP. OK.

Being pissed is fine. It’s good. Saying that Democrats are the ones who took health care subsidies away is a vicious fucking lie that is meant to demotivate people, to republicans’ benefit, and you know it.

“Democrats voted to fund the thing Trump wants to destroy” is a weird way of saying Democrats won’t stop him from destroying it

If your theory of politics is Trump can so anything he wants then I’m not sure what toy think the shutdown was going to accomplish anyway

I don’t really use discord at all but you’ll be missed around here. I hope this place gets its act together and you find your way back.

Noting for no reason in particular that the consonant distinction between the “ar” and “el” sounds is a relatively recent development in Core World galactic standard and that elision between these sounds is still somewhat common in the outer rim.

There’s evidence for Leia and her descendants being force sensitive, something the Organas were not known for. Senator Binks’ personal diaries border on the unreadable but include contemporary references to Skywalker and Amidala having an unusually close relationship for a Senator and Jedi bodyguard

It’s certainly unpopular but the most likely theory is that she really was an orphan of no significant parentage who rose to prominence within the Resistance. As noted elsewhere, the “Two Deaths of Sheev Palpatine” story is patently absurd, but is a necessary predicate for the Rey Palpatine theory.

It’s pretty clear that “Order 66” is a result of convergent myth. The early Empire wished to appear stronger than it was; the Jedi holdouts and exiles needed a way to explain how their order fell. In reality the Jedi were hollowed out by nearly a decade of civil war and no such order was needed.

Everything else aside, the fact that Rey Skywalker was able to claim the mantle of Jedi at all indicates whatever efforts Luke made at a second founding were ultimately unsuccessful. She did not exist within a Lukian force-user tradition.

Agreed. It’s unnecessarily prurient and is frankly a bizarre choice by a significant historical figure.

Maybe if he hadn’t inexplicably included a detailed description of the Life Day celebration he attended during the Rebellion more people would give it credence. As it is he comes off as a bit starstruck. Was he really good friends with Yoda (pre Fall no less) AND Han Solo? And he never mentioned it?

That we agree on. I’m just saying even the regime historians knew it would strain credulity too much to have Luke actually present on Krait. As for the two deaths of Palpatine, this is likely a metaphor that was mistaken for truth. The *Empire* died twice. Once at Yavin and then as the First Order.

For that matter, her claim that she was taught by Luke Skywalker are dubious at best. They were never seen together, and it’s widely accepted that Luke died in self imposed exile. Even official accounts acknowledge his appearance at Krait was a projection.

Look, if you think Rey took the name Skywalker for any reason other than to assert a claim to a lineage of powerful Force users and reinforce her position as the new face of the Light Side, I’ve got a bridge in Canto Bight to sell you.
