#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

Probably has nothing to do with the fact that the main character idolizes toxic girl boss types like Madeline "Acceptable Loss" Albright and ends up saving her town by selling its poorest neighborhood to Google
The fact that a lot of leftists despise Parks and Rec - one of the best and most sympathetic depictions of non-cop government in modern media - is a symptom of the fact that a lot of the left has no idea how to actually implement the policy proposals they want to enact.
The reason 30 Rock succeeds years later while parks and rec has aged like a toilet full of milk, is that 30 Rock doesnt shy away from portraying Liz Lemon as an obvious villian with a victim/hero complex, whereas Leslie Knope was played just a straight hero character, even tho she is a neolib shill

Chotiner operates on an elementary but effective cut-and-thrust. He is conversational enough to settle an idiot down, and they're all idiots these days. Then he's always prepared with a follow-up. But he pulls his punch. He lets the subject lean into it so far they fall over.
I actually don't think Chotiner is preternaturally good at interviewing or whatever, I just think the rest of the national press is operating at goo goo ga ga level

We really need an equivalent of common carrier laws for all infrastructure. Payment processors should be obligated to process all legal transactions. They shouldn't have any more say in it than my electric company can decide what I'm allowed to plug in.
