the other day i saw someone on ig say their therapist told them ‘real healing’ is learning how to self-soothe and not take your troubles to your people or communities, and it was the most miserably isolating ‘coping’ strategy i’d ever heard. if it’s true, that therapist needs firing
Need for praise, validation, positive attention, feeling of being needed, heard and appreciated are perfectly normal human needs. They are not a sign of immaturity or lack of self-reliance. Humans are social creatures.

there’s a lot of concerns that the push for genAI raises for me and many of them come before this, but it is really worth asking about dehumanizing ourselves through outsourcing ability and agency. like why is anyone’s goal to be helpless? personally i juggle my self-worth enough as is
