I think it would be super nice if Devyn and their doggo didn't get evicted tomorrow, and they need so little to reach their rent target.

You might think your five bucks won't do it. But if you've got five bucks and someone else does too, suddenly Devyn stays warm in winter.

I asked my librarian if they had noticed a difference after abolishing the late fee, and she said, “A lot more kids books are being checked out” and I think that’s BEAUTIFUL.
goodnight, and remember: library late fees suck. they simply discourage library use. you should be glad if your library abolished them, and if it hasn’t, you should tell them it should. 📚

I really hate when the year has an extra week that doesn't fit nicely into the 52 weeks/13x4 quarter cycle, so I end up counting this as week zero or purgatory week as I switch from my 2025 journal/Q4 goals to my 2026 journal/Q1 goals.
First world problems, I know, but still annoys me.

This is my favorite headcanon and it's a great example of how readers can offer a different reading of a text that the author never considered and did not intend, but is nonetheless validated by the text itself.
A shitpost so great Billy Joel actually heard about it

Why is Odai being ignored? I never imagined I would ask strangers for help, but Odai is injured by a quadcopter and suffering every day and needs medication and painkillers. I believe there are still hearts full of humanity and love. Please don’t leave Odai alone in his pain.

In lighter news, my aunt got my dogs a tortilla blanket, so I spent my morning swaddling Katie, so I can call her a baby burrito.
I did the same to Edgar, so now, he is a bean burrito.
Finn rejected the blanket when he realized it wasn't an actual tortilla

This polling data is really important, not least because it is a sober reminder that the government in power in DC does not make policy by public opinion poll. The other party that might want to hold power ought to think hard about what this means.
Polls conducted in late 2025 show that most Americans, by a 25-50 point margin (depending on question wording), oppose the use of military force against Venezuela.

Realised I have not only been failing to promote this event but also haven't actually... mentioned it publicly... anywhere at all. WHOOPS. Yeah, that's not how you sell tickets.

Anyway, I'm doing an event in Cambridge! Let's talk about medieval werewolves :) www.waterstones.com/events/an-ev...

Remember when the AI "authors" said it was all about bringing their true dreams to life because they simply couldn't write themselves but had amazing ideas?
I was watching a video about an author who uses AI, and one of the things that stood out to me was how she talked about writing to market and how, as an author, writing what you want takes a backseat to the market when you get "serious" about it, and I vehemently disagree. 🧵

Chasing the "market" only compromises your work. It makes the end product mediocre.

I say this often but it bears repeating: if you make your money from creating art then you NEED to find an art or craft where you just do it for fun and don't try to be perfect or make any money from it, and when anyone tells you to monetise it you say 'No', because otherwise your soul will die.
Have needle. Have thread. Have scraps of paper. Have free will. Have made a notebook.

Don't forget folks: allowing yourself a vision of the future you'd want for our country and planet - not the one you'd settle for, not the one you fear, but the future of your dreams - isn't naive, it's a vital cognitive skill. That's how we articulate what we most value. What's worth fighting for.
Instead of whatever this is, we should have a government getting lots of new homes and apartments built, lots of clean energy built, lots of high speed rail and transit and bike lanes built, human rights for everyone, economic & healthcare opportunities for all, & innovation that leads the world.
