I think we’ve got better and more culturally-varied street food than I could have imagined, cool jackets galore, and drugs that make us think we’re really fast and strong before they kill us.
we're getting all the downsides of cyberpunk (social alienation, ruthless hyper capitalism, digital mass surveillance state) but none of the promised upsides (cheap street food, cool jackets, super drugs that make you really fast and strong before they kill you)

Sure why not! (Maybe this'll put me more in a mindset to plan for my Fabula Ultima campaign, I tell myself desperately)

I saw this around. It looks like fun! Final Fantasy is one of my all-time favorite series, and this is a great way to interact with other FF fans. 😁 Hopefully I can stick to this because I have a habit of forgetting about these 😂

Truly saddening news. When I was starting out trying my hand at game design, Steve was my first mentor (through the Tabletop Mentorship Program). His love for games and play was always vividly evident.

Last year, I joined a group of other local GMs to start organizing non-5e D&D game days and that went great.
This year, I'll be working with some old friends to make RPG stuff. What stuff? We've yet to decide. Working w/ a dedicated group is a New Experience for me though and I look forward to it!

I do some community organising around environmental issues IRL; I write about imperialism and colonial violence.
When I play games sometimes its nice to just kill demons, or stake vampires, or manage a colony.
If you already do activism I don't think you need to dream about activism, too.

I was having similar thoughts earlier ( since the whole 'colonist dungeon' thing came up again).
The dungeon as fantasy is really a kind of (ludo)narrative device present in a lot of games and literature that I think gets wrongly (at times) caught up in colonialist trappings.
