It's frustrating that this has to come out on The Atlantic for people to take it seriously, and simultaneously, it doesn't point at the fact that "expanding profitability via audience targeting" isn't a recipe to actually solve the racism that's in D&D's DNA.

Reshare: Zephyr is a labor of love, bursting with full-spread illustrations by Federico Sohns. As per their estimate, Sohns would've spent potentially a thousand hours just on the art for the book.

Zephyr’s sweeping art brings an alien world to life

Underrated Zephyr aspect: The fact that the book is 11" by 6.5" instead of the US letter 11" by 8.5" standard, and works perfectly fine art-wise and for layout, while feeling easier to carry.
IMHO there's no reason to strictly stick to US letter or Digest size.

The 光が死んだの夏 OST is fabulous, and it reminds me of Bobby Krlic's Midsommar OST in how the theme of Summer is musicalized in the context of horror.
It makes me yearn for so much more of this type of horror

I find it very shitty when j-ytubers talk about how hard it is for foreigners to find an apartment in Japan and make a show of all the issues instead of just... going ahead and plugging companies that *do* rent to foreigners. f-apartments, エイブル, fucken Leopalace21 like, actually help out, fam

In the #ZephyrRPG, you travel the back of a sentient, walking landmass as the Windfolk - sentimental constructs that seek to fulfill sacred obligations by travelling through the wondrous landscapes of Ophoi, mediated through a system based on color tokens, survival, and mutual aid.

I always get at least a hint of paranoia whenever I talk openly about how hard it is for me to make a living in this industry, I gather people who would work with me may see it and pass me out because I don't sell or whatever. But I keep doing it in the hope someone at least will fucking, idk...

I'm sure we'll all be told this is imperialist propaganda to make China look bad and ACTUALLY they very much like uwu smol bean tankies and don't openly oppress queer people.
SCOOP: China's top 2 gay dating apps, Blued and Finka, became unavailable on app stores over the weekend. Apple confirmed to WIRED that it removed the two apps following "an order from the Cyberspace Administration of China."

???????
Game mechanics aren't that special.
There is nothing inherently better about rolling 2d6 vs a d12, rolling over or under a stat for a skill check, or using tokens.
The special part is when you, the designer, noticing how a particular mechanic lets you share a part of the human experience

The Summer Hikaru Died:
There's no such thing as an ubiquitous community. Ubiquity is anathema to that. I have community with the people I play and talk TTRPGs here in Buenos Aires, and with a couple of people in Discord.
If by community you mean the "space", it is toxic, though not diametrically worse than other spaces.

TTRPG Question of the Day
Do you think the TTRPG community is toxic?
This is a different kind of question. I've seen people say that the TTRPG community is highly toxic, sharing experiences of racism, sexism, & gatekeeping. Do you think the hobby experiences this more or less than other fandoms?

My Vietnamese friend just told me about Caodaism, and it has to be the most fascinating religion I’ve ever seen. I’m in awe.
We have Buddha, Laozi, Li Bai, Confucius, Guanyin, Guan Yu, Jesus, and Jiang Ziya. All of them. *Together.*
I am nerding out SO badly right now

The Summer Hikaru Died AKA Gay-Ghosted
Today I was studying at a cafe in the mall and my two best friends showed up. Random encounter in Buenos Aires is wild given how big it is. I was so happy; it reminded me of how often that would happen back in MARKIS in Fukuoka, and how nice it was (Fukuoka is way smaller).

The first time I ever saw a dishwasher was when I was 16 at my girlfriend's house (she was bougie) and I immediately thought it was fucked ridiculous when you can wear gloves. Also, it was always a nice gesture to hand wash the dishes of someone who invited you to have a meal.
