I wrote about the unprecedented mass censorship and surveillance laws that Congress is trying to ram through in the name of “protecting kids” and how none of this is about protecting kids. In fact, these laws cause great harm to all of us, for @zeteo.com
Social Media Is a Literal Lifeline for Many Kids. Don't Ban Them From Using It
US politicians want to replicate Australia's draconian law prohibiting children under 16 from using social media. But experts say such bans will actually make kids 'significantly less safe online.'

ID LAWS FALL! You all are doing amazing! This is why you call your reps and make your voice heard, why you support groups fighting for free speech.

Keep this up and we can tear the rest down!

Netchoice won their legal battle against Age verification in louisiana! This follows similar rulings in AK and OH!

This is huge!

These laws can be stopped, they can be overturned. Do not give in to dooming! Keep calling your reps and support orgs that fight these laws in court!

I really want to emphasize that this is a winnable fight, but everyone has to chip in in order to do so! Please dont sit it out expecting others to stand in your place!

And dont ignore local/state level stuff! As these state laws get overturned, the narrative behind the Fed ones lose steam!

As it's been pointed out, age verification laws getting permablocked in Louisiana, Arkansas and Ohio directly contradicts the narrative that KOSA et al is popular, which its congressional supporters are desperately claiming

If we push it could unravel completely, but we all *have* to keep pushing

Rob Reiner religion note: One of his last film projects was “God & Country,” a documentary released last year based on Katherine Stewart’s book.

The film turned a critical lens toward Christian nationalism.

Rob Reiner's 'God & Country' explores the politicization of Christianity
The new documentary looks at the rise of Christian Nationalism as a political movement through the eyes of theologians and conservative thinkers.

100% this and also I think these AI bros don’t get that there there are a ton of little micro ideas and decisions that are happening on the way from conception to finishing. It’s not all just follow through from the equivalent of a prompt. The steps in the process inform the whole concept.
& this nonsense that whomever has “the most ideas the fastest” is “the most creative” is ridic. There’s ppl with 1,000 ideas for paintings yet will never paint The Starry Night. An idea and $2.90 will get you a ride on the subway in NYC.

Artistry isn’t solely manufacturing ideas. It’s the process.

the problem for transphobes is that at this point nearly everyone has met or at least interacted with a trans person and figured out that they're just people trying to live their lives. this is why they want to ban trans people from existing in public at all costs
11% of Britons say they feel 'very negatively' about trans people which just highlights how much this is a top-down hate project with around 95% of the media hating trans people and a high percentage of MPs.
Hello. I’m a “same-sex attracted person” (loathe that description of my sexuality) & I support Trans rights, like the majority of female “same sex attracted people”.

This NYT story failed the reader by not digging deeper. One subject dropped out of college after one year (five years ago) and lists "Windows" as his skillset. Story should be: young conservatives who blame immigrants for their personal failures and whose lives won't be improved w/ fewer immigrants

They are literally begging regular people to come back. Don't do it! It is a website by and for actual Nazis!

Only someone with zero talent would say this. It is the (sometimes timely) process itself that makes creativity flow, every artist will tell you that. Cutting the process will eliminate creativity, not enhance it. But the fact that billionaires want to kill art is not new.
I have grown to believe that excessive wealth does something to your brain that is analogous to a serious head injury

On Twitter, the FBI released security footage and are asking for help identifying a suspect.

The video is a blurry short loop of the BACK of an average-looking person walking away from the camera in an area with no distinguishable features.

They do not mention where or when the footage was taken.
This is what happens when the FBI is run by two right-wing conspiracy theorist podcasters who spent the last 11 months purging almost anyone with institutional knowledge from the bureau. They're going to keep fucking this kind of thing up.
BREAKING: Authorities will release the person of interest in the Brown University shooting, officials said, as the investigation continues.

Someone please explain to the billionaires that we can do this the "passing laws" way or we can do this the fun way, but I don't think they'll like the fun way.
"For the first time, a majority of Americans believe billionaires are a threat to democracy. A remarkable 71 percent believe there should be a wealth tax. A majority believe there should be a cap on how much wealth a person can accumulate."
