You have to treat *every single thing* that Musk says about SpaceX for the next few months as suspect, because he is inflating the story of the company prior to the IPO.

He wants people to believe this company is going to be Earth's saviour.

All the evidence so far about them says otherwise.
Take note about everything that Musk is saying about SpaceX these days. And specifically his choice of words.

He is totally making SpaceX sound like it's going to be our saviour. Even he knows this isn't true.

But .... he has an IPO coming up and he is shaping a compelling story to drive valuation
"self-growing city in less than 10 years --> new meme born

"build a Mars city in 5-7 years" --> secone meme born

And who speaks like this?!

"securing the future of civilization"

I'll tell you who ..... this guy who has to tell lies to get people excited for an upcoming IPO (it's marketing 101)

The larger point -- it's important to have big dreams to aspire to -- is one I agree with! I just know that in Elon's case, I'm meant to aspire to _his_ big dreams, and sorry, bud. I just don't think we should let you live out any more of your fantasies.
This is one of things. Bigtime.

One of Justice Scalia’s last votes before his death on 2/13/16 was to usher in the Court’s practice of making sweeping rulings on the emergency docket without explanation or accountability. A rich reminder of that moment from @stevevladeck.bsky.social
Ten years ago today, #SCOTUS issued five unsigned and unexplained 5-4 rulings granting emergency applications to block President Obama’s Clean Power Plan—a completely unprecedented move that helped to usher in the Court’s modern … (mis)adventures … with its shadow docket.

Me in today’s “One First”:
209. The Modern Emergency Docket Turns Ten
The February 2016 rulings blocking the Clean Power Plan were unprecedented; in retrospect, they were harbingers of a paradigm shift in the Supreme Court's role.

BTW, any time DHS or media claim federal agents cannot be investigated or criminally charged by state or local agencies for use of force violations, that is not true. Even CBP & Border Patrol require it according to policy: p. 26.

Walker’s piece shows how powerful groups are working to reshape language around sex + gender. They work across interests and even countries, normalizing increasingly reprehensible language. But contrary to what The Atlantic would have you believe, none of those interests are trans people ourselves.
When Trump latched onto the phrase "gender ideology" in his EOs, it stood out as overtly eliminationist language. But popularized originally as an anti-feminism slogan by the Vatican, it became endemic in the UK in the past decade and has become arguably the most visible explicitly anti-trans term.
