Finally got round to watching Suffer this evening - it was good! An honest to god sword-and-sorcery film with strong feminist overtones. Really striking visuals too. Clearly straining hard against its limited budget, but in a way that felt endearing rather than shonky.

I am neither Haitian nor an American immigrant so I can’t speak to this further, but one of the many tiny flourishes that make me adore Wonder Man is that ‘Pacoima’ implies one of the reasons Simon feels alienated from his family is because he can’t speak (but still understands) Haitian Creole.

That puzzle from Monkey Island 1 where you have to make the navigation recipe to get to MI but you don’t have any of the listed ingredients is so ripe for use in TTRPGs. Technically this is a big part of Unknown Armies already

I see a lot advice and video essays where people say to not try or have dreams, to use what tools are in front of you, and the basic idea behind this isn’t bad: you might get further not forcing yourself into a single concept of success. But I think this advice doesn’t quite work for minorities.
