Guys Nick- my husband - was selected to be on Zohran Mamdani’s inauguration committee & I couldn’t be prouder! He’s being recognized for his work on the campaign — from Feb when they had 3% name recognition to the final week when Harlem, where he was lead, came out overwhelmingly for Zohran. PROUD!
My New York is where this great grandson of Ellis island immigrants from Italy can support the campaign & celebrate the victory, of the first Muslim, socialist, immigrant mayor of our city.

This is really awful. As a TA who wanted to sue my university (trans-related, but many years ago & not involving teaching; not my current university), it was impossible to find a lawyer to take it on, and I wasn't even asking for pro bono. I am hoping the legal landscape improved since then.
Someone should take this case on and help this TA sue the shit out of this institution.

Friends please stop saying immigrants are treated poorly because they are “seen as criminals” as tho if they were “criminals” it would justify torture or no medical care or food. The violence we acquiesced to is what got us here. High time we recognize NO human deserves to be treated this way.

This isn’t a shift. We have never been allowed to see in detention centers a feature of this country for decades. No one plasters dead bodies on the screen to promote war. Fascism thrives on the rhetoric of violence, but people don’t like to see how it marks bodies- thus censorship.
Worth noting, I guess, that inside of a year we've gone from administration officials taking selfies of themselves at CECOT and bragging about how it's hell on earth to now getting their horrible little media worms to kill stories about it
