Mamdani clearly has a maxed-out Charisma bonus, so straight nat 20s weren't required... but yeah he definitely rolled at least a few.
Zohran met the campaign's final boss and won without a fight by rolling 10 straight nat 20s on persuasion checks, that's all I can figure

Great news that the Senate has passed the bill forcing the DOJ to release its Epstein file. Now Bondi must comply. But our work cannot stop there. We need to force the Treasury to release the Epstein bank records too. I have a bill to make that happen. FOLLOW THE MONEY.

Jim Jordan begged someone to not rat out the sexual assault that was happening at Ohio State. He was crying on the phone. Groveling. This man threw out all his dignity to try and cover for horrifying crimes of sexual abuse. Think about that for a moment.

The Founders were so concerned about bribery that the Constitution forbids it three separate times. Two emoluments clauses ban officials—unambiguously including the president—from accepting things of value, plus bribery is the only named impeachable offense besides treason.

Unprecedentedly corrupt.

Fuse Washington's progressive voter guide is superior in every way to the Stranger's endorsement list. I appreciated the Stranger's endorsements when I was 20. But their snark just isn't that helpful, and as @robertcruickshank.com mentions, their downballot choices are sometimes ill-considered.
Maybe this is controversial, but I think it is fundamentally unhealthy for a progressive movement to have our most influential endorsements come from a newspaper. I love the Stranger, often they get it right. But when they get it wrong, the consequences can be massive, like in our public schools.

As long as it's someone else's 14-year-old, they never care. I'm not saying she should be let off the hook, but there's no stopping the cognitive dissonance.
Everyone who posts this should note that Megyn Kelly has a 14-year-old daughter. Do not let her off the hook on this.
This was always where this was headed.

Wow. While we wait for the few remaining ballots to be counted, we feel like we have won this race. The recent drop put us nearly 1,400 votes ahead, just under the .5 percent threshold for a mandatory recount.

This is why there needs to be a hi-cap cohort school in West Seattle. Selfishly I'd love it to be at Lafayette, but Alki would make more sense -- their new building will be twice as big as what they need. It could accommodate two tracks just like Thurgood Marshall.

Let’s convince some religious zealots that AI is a tool of the devil. Not kidding. I feel like this would be enough to generate a wave of scrutiny. A satanic panic, but for good! (SAItanic panic?)
40 years ago we’d have congressional hearings falsely accusing metal bands of putting backwards messages in their songs that told kids to kill themselves & now we have a planet-killing chatbot that’s all like “bet you won’t commit suicide chickenshit bitch” & the government is like here’s $5 billion

This weekend, I received notice of the 21st death of a person in ICE custody since Trump took office.

These mostly private, for-profit detention centers put their profits over people’s health and safety. There must be increased oversight and accountability.

Right: he's treating Treasury accounts like slush funds to pay military personnel, he's buying luxury jets for cabinet members with our $$, he's using state power to extort bribes to fund his stupid ballroom, and now he wants to help himself to a 9-figure sum while fed workers aren't getting paid.
sorry, man, but this is breathtakingly, shockingly corrupt in every fucking way it can be, and an open and shut and uncomplicated case for impeachment. he didn’t even pay for these lawyers, his donors did, for fuck’s sake.
ask every republican in congress whether they think the treasury should pay donald trump almost a quarter billion dollars while federal workers are in their third week of not getting paid

When the conflict expands in scale & scope, the good feelings help propel people to do hard things. Shitting on the public rallies is fucking dumb. It's also ahistorical and lacks any serious engagement with the history of social movement successes in the US. It's just trashy demobilization.

The handful of exceptions were pretty much all places with a big D1 football game

I genuinely don't understand why the NYT is so reticent to give coverage to one of the largest protests in history
