this would wipe out entire universities’ eligibility for funding
“The prohibited activities would include joint research, co-authorship on papers, and advising a foreign graduate student or postdoctoral fellow. The language is retroactive, meaning any interactions during the previous 5 years could make a scientist ineligible for future federal funding.”

Universities allow DHS to surveil football games along with campus protests. This is a (sadly a bit badly written) story about a hugely important topic. Faculty governance must request information on these collaborations on their campus.

I spoke with a grad student today who cannot leave the US. Her I-20 is good for five years, but her visa only for two. If she leaves, she needs a new visa. She has to apply in person, and it takes three months at a minimum. And a new visa would be for three months only, single entry. So: Impossible.

This is astounding. The @michigandaily.bsky.social upstages every single legacy outlet in the country when it comes to exposing the underbelly of higher education. Just tremendous work.

How did I get to close to Medicare age to learn the secret of the most succulent and most crunchy-skin chicken? I'm kinda mad nobody ever told me. I've been on the quest for the perfect roast chicken for three decades.

Chuffed to share that my @umich.edu faculty senate resolution asking for a proper AI strategy passed with 86% of the vote. Tremendous participation -- 46% of the faculty!

(the high number of abstentions is due to the fact that a whole bunch of people came solely to liberate us from CTP).
