Democrats are doing what a lot of people *on here* asked them to do by holding shadow hearings. Help amplify!
Watch this video.

Mimi is a constituent of mine. She testified at a shadow hearing today about caring for four U.S. citizen children who were detained and torn from their parents.

I signed the Harper's letter to show I was brave enough to stand up to the left on free speech. But I've decided that I'm not brave enough to stand up to the right about it.

I think it’s high time we take back the national narrative. For centuries Americans of all races, genders, religions, and abilities have worked to create a more perfect union, and we should shout from the rooftops that WE are America. Not these idiot white supremacist authoritarians.

Kaiser is following these guidelines and vaccines are available to members with no copay. Got my kids' and my appointment booked for the end of next week.
State health officials issued their own vaccination guidelines on Wednesday, recommending that all Californians 6 months and older who want protection from the COVID-19 virus get this season’s updated vaccine. https://cal.news/46ajB91

I ate a strawberry for the first time in years the other day. Buy em all the time, I just forgot that I could do that because of the speed the kids demolish them.
among the many things they don’t tell you about having kids is the amount of money you will shell out to buy various berries

Unfortunately this situation produces a certain type of grifter - let's call them toxic generalists - who relies on this complexity to wheel and deal their way through systems.

The toxic generalist only needs to know a little more than nothing to pass as an expert. That's where AI comes in.
I find “people don’t actually know how things work” has a lot of explanatory power.

I don’t mean this in a holier-than-thou way. I’m only vaguely aware of how my microwave or the car radio work. A lot of modern life is assuming the functioning of complex tech and models.

This Fourth of July, I am thinking about the 139 civil servants who took an oath to uphold the constitution and the EPA’s mission, and were placed on leave for raising concerns about issues such as deregulating asbestos and lead exposure.

This is un-American. The 1st amendment exists for a reason.

That's not the near-consensus. The near consensus is that AI doesn't work and will be a technology that has major knock-on effects on society. It is grounded both in reality and theory.
Bluesky's near-consensus that AI doesn't work and won't be a technology that has major knock-on effects on society is…not grounded in reality. No mater how loudly and repetitively people say it.
I’m just a tech critic, standing in front of other tech critics, asking them to please stop insisting that the AI hype bubble is totally gonna collapse any minute now.

Your confidence is making it harder for the rest of us. It may be what your audience wants to hear, but that doesn’t make it true.
