I recall getting approached by BetterHelp and responding with "the compensation you're offering is significantly below standard and the services are not only not industry standard but arguably unethical" and getting a long, rambling e-mail from a director-level exec accusing me of "gatekeeping."

this inevitably and understandably makes the actual domain experts really pissed off at the tech specialists who feel qualified to explain their jobs to them (and genAI has unleashed an unprecedented epidemic of this behavior)
The inverse is also true: people in tech naively think that the subject-matter expertise needed for a specific domain-targeted project (e.g. securities trading, radiological diagnosis) can be acquired in their spare time, or isn't needed at all.

Common misconception, but practically everyone we saw today all over the north suburbs and at O’Hare was actually border patrol just like their commander, Greg Bovino, who was on the scene at the airport rideshare lot and at various big box store parking lots from Evanston to Mount Prospect
