Maybe the most fascinating belief among the billionaire class, especially the Silicon Valley set, has been their confidence that if they blow up the specific conditions and institutions that put them on top, they will certainly come out even higher on top
Congratulations to all the bankers, hedge-fund managers, private-equity honchos, tech titans, corporate executives and op-ed writers for backing the man who will do more to undermine the system that made them insanely wealthy than any other presidential candidate in their lifetimes.
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said the US central bank had been served grand jury subpoenas from the Justice Department threatening a criminal indictment, a dramatic escalation of the Trump administration’s attacks on the Fed.

This is the sort of statement that was expected from every university president and law firm partner over the last year. That those statements weren’t made played a huge part in where we are now and people will remember.
Jerome Powell: "This is about whether the Fed will be able to continue to set interest rates based on evidence and economic conditions—or whether instead monetary policy will be directed by political pressure or intimidation."

The past couple days have made it clear that arresting and prosecuting Johnathan Ross isn’t just the right thing to do, it is necessary to prevent future violence by ICE who have interpreted the situation as “we can do that to whoever we want”
A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

He didn't shoot her in the head at point blank range because he felt like he was in danger. He shot her in the head at point blank range because he was furious that she wasn't afraid of him. He shot her in the head at point blank range because he felt emasculated.

We’ve transitioned from a dynamic where the media would invent inflammatory headlines about what Dems say, but where those headlines would have some halfway-justifiable basis in fact, to one where the media will invent inflammatory headlines about what Dems say regardless of what they actually said.
I genuinely don't think what Dem leaders actually SAY has any effect on how media outlets will purposefully word their headlines to get Dem rageclicks.

This needs to happen, and the only way it happens is if we're prepared to treat as null and void the inevitable blanket pardons. A coherent account of how and why they're invalid, and the political will to do what it takes to make that stick.
"Should the opposition ever regain power, it should commit to prosecuting members of this regime at every level to the fullest extent of the law."
The Distance Between Renee Good and Ashli Babbitt Is Fascism
It’s not a hypocrisy. It’s a coherent worldview.

This is literally what they do whenever a Black person is killed by police. No matter how solid the evidence is, they will keep pushing that lie, not just to poison the conversation and make sure the killer walks free, but to reassert the political idea that these people deserve to be killed.
The shooting is shocking enough but the government's response is off the charts when you consider that this incident is forensically documented on video.

You know, after thinking about it for a little bit, I’m not so sure that the guy who dedicated his whole adult life to empowering the guy who promised to fill our streets with a personal army of violent stormtroopers was in fact “doing politics the right way”
I expect everyone who was upset and outraged by the murder of Charlie Kirk to be just as outrage and upset by this murder in Minneapolis. Do you think that’s gonna happen?

You and your wife drop your 6-year-old off at school. You just moved here. You see ICE terrorizing your new neighbors. You film them, as is your legal right. Your wife complies with orders. She is then shot in the head. You still have to pick up your child later today.

This could be you.

I agree with this, but I also think that accepting international jurisdiction over some of the crimes committed by this administration may be a necessary step for our country regaining the world’s trust after he’s gone
for the record I don't want Trump et al tried by some international court somewhere

no, I want him tried right here in the US by Americans and to finally go to jail for his crimes by the ruling of an American court

Oh, look who's angling for a pardon now, but had all his former wealth confiscated.

IMO the argument is that you can make things into big enough deals that it matters. Khanna found Massey and found survivors and made the Epstein Files the gigantic story it should be. Only then did establishment Dems come along. You can, in fact, make things into big hairy deals if you do it right.
if you want the Senate to do something, Senate Republicans must do something.

People are dunking on this but I'm not really sure what plays Schumer has other than to try to peel off Rs.
Schumer: "Republicans must -- if there was ever a time, they must step up to the plate. This is the time. And if they don't, they're gonna feel the heat from their constituents."

It’s genuinely wild that the United States spent decades building an elaborate rules-based international order which de facto cemented its permanent status as the dominant global hegemon, sustained by ideology rather than might, and now is just blowing it all up for literally no reason

A hearty “fuck you” to this snivelling little loser who boasts with so much arrogance about our “superpower” status while doing all he possibly can to destroy everything that made us that.
MILLER: The US is using its military to secure our interests unapologetically in our hemisphere. We're a superpower. It's absurd we'd allow a nation in our backyard to become a supplier of resources to our adversaries

TAPPER: Sovereign countries shouldn't be able to do what they want?

“Let’s give powerful insiders possessing secret information the ability to take money directly from the pockets of gambling addicts, who are in turn enabled to bet at any time on literally anything in the world that they happen to think about” is a helluva business model if you have no soul
A whale went on Polymarket a few days ago & earned $400,000 correctly predicting Maduro's capture.
@emmarjanssen.bsky.social had already been studying how easy it would be for White House officials to use prediction markets to self-enrich based on their own policy decisions.
This is a great report.
Monetizing Regime Change - The American Prospect
It is trivially easy for administration officials to use prediction markets to bet on the policies they authorize. We may have just seen it in Venezuela.

The NBA fandom at large just rolls their eyes when Boston Celtics fans insist the Boston Celtics’ don’t have a one superstar team. The Jays aren’t Batman & Robin—they’re more like The Hulk & Thor. Two way superstars are rare indeed but Boston’s had the Jays since 2017-18 & they’re in their primes.
Amen.👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
I can think of 2 players who are already in the MVP convo who are infinitely worse defenders than Brown.
Browns at about 30ppg and can guard opponents #1 options.
Tell me which other mvp candidates can.
Media have cognitive dissonance when it comes to the defensive end of the court.

A functioning Congress will have articles of impeachment drafted by the end of the day.

Our Congress will just go to social media to basically say “We don’t like this, but what are you gonna do?”
