good thread, captures a dynamic we’ve seen in district 3 as well: sweeps and camping bans mean fewer tents in downtown and more people sleeping under the stoops of businesses on division
In the week since Mayor Wilson began enforcing the public camping ban, we are seeing MORE tents in East Portland. Those folks are just being swept into my district.
I told the mayor that this is what would happen and asked him to bring extra resources to East PDX to meet the displaced. He did not.

I question the premise of the conclusion of the article that Arnold will threaten Clark or Zimmerman rather than Green. Like the Don’t Rank Rene campaign, any incumbent can be voted out if enough voters don’t put a nominee anywhere on their ranked choice list.
Eli Arnold, a Portland police officer who ran unsuccessfully for the Portland City Council in 2024, will try again next year to win the same seat.
