Daughter, sister, mother, widow, and grandmother. I was an RN for 27 years & served on the Portland City Council for 12. I live in beautiful Portland Oregon. I like Portland Thorns, Oregon Ducks football, gardening, and cats, not necessarily in that order.
Every photo I see recently of angry orange grandpa with dementia looks like Saturday Night Live skit

Yay! I love Eastport Plaza. Westside has Washington Square for indoor mall, Eastside needs Eastport Plaza especially with Lloyd Center redevelopment. Portlanders need indoor places to shop and/or walk, especially now through Spring

At start, with many veterans retiring, Sophia out on maternity leave, Morgan out injured all season, they looked like preschool kick-n-chase. Caiya Hanks was the one bright spark then she was out for season. They pulled together and found ways to win. Thanks for joy @thornsfc @rosecityriveters.org

If **Jeffrey Epstein** thinks you're a evil and demented sociopath, the odds are overwhelming that you are, in fact, an evil and demented sociopath.

Tonight’s vote shows whether MTG really cares about health care costs for her constituents. On the other hand I’m glad she didn’t cave on the Epstein petition. Lauren Boebert too. Many (but not all) elected officials learn and grow as they serve. Always room for more. And even stopped clocks….

Portlanders fill pews of The Old Church for political civility forum
Around 100 Portlanders, including the Portland protest frogs, filled The Old Church’s sanctuary Tuesday night for a forum on political civility.

President Donald Trump boasts that his tariffs protect American industries, lure factories to the United States, raise money for the federal government and give him diplomatic leverage.

I thought about correcting this post with facts on organ donation then decided what the heck, maybe people will sign up to be donors if they think they will be saving 300 lives when they go rather than a few individually precious ones.

I question the premise of the conclusion of the article that Arnold will threaten Clark or Zimmerman rather than Green. Like the Don’t Rank Rene campaign, any incumbent can be voted out if enough voters don’t put a nominee anywhere on their ranked choice list.
Eli Arnold, a Portland police officer who ran unsuccessfully for the Portland City Council in 2024, will try again next year to win the same seat.

This post should have noted Watson and Crick stole research from Rosalind Franklin whose findings informed their work on the double helix. She died of cancer before their honor with the Nobel Prize, which is only conferred on living people.

I learned a lot about Nancy Pelosi this week — including her very early advocacy for AIDS patients. She visited them in SF General’s AIDS ward and convinced the Reagan administration to allow the AIDS Memorial Quilt to be displayed on the National Mall in 1987.

It’s important to note this was a procedural action, not a ruling on the merits of the underlying case. Justice Jackson wasn’t siding with the Trump administration; she was making sure the legal process unfolded correctly and fairly.

Woo hoo! I appreciate protestors staying peaceful, also @ppbchief.bsky.social for leading local officers found well able to manage the protests.

There are many news sites posting this information but this image is by far the best I’ve seen.

Very grateful to Portland voters for supporting our Parks. We still need more funding, and for the Council to abide by laws to add ongoing funding when new facilities come on line, and for half of one time money every budget to go to maintenance in parks, transportation and emergency management.

Please vote Yes on Parks levy. It’s not the ideal solution and more will be needed (like the restaurant and takeout tax Nick Fish and I supported like in Ashland which gets tourists and affluent people to pay to support parks) but a Yes vote shows how much we appreciate parks and park workers

As a retired person who lives alone except for my cat who insists it’s dinner time from noon on regardless of the season, I’m choosing to stay on summer time for at least a week except for making sure I don’t show up early for @rosecityriveters.org @thornsfc.com game Sunday. Whereas a similar-sized ship would be lost on the lakes every six or seven years before the Fitzgerald, none has gone down since then”
