Motion to give Terry Harris all the Negronis he wants
I had to look this up (and this seems SUPER-complicated, beyond my expertise, and I've had a negroni) so yes, $934 per month per violation doesn't seem like much..

..BUT it seems to unlock the "Reconsideration of Land Use Approvals" in code section 33.700.040

Portland isn't changing course on carrying out its land use violation against the ICE building.

It occurred to me recently that the people who most likely struck the deal for the state preemption on future PCEFs (gross receipts taxes) during the Student Success Act negotiations were Laurie Wimmer and Julia Brim Edwards.

IIRC, Wimmer was lobbying for OEA & JBE was lobbying for Nike.

This is probably not shocking coming from a socialist but IMO the non-profits that steward PCEF would insulate it from constant attack & make it toxic to even come near if they supported dedicating a portion to a big universal social good like public power, social housing, or public transit.
"PCEF isn't your money. It's our money. We built the fund. We will never let it go." - Alan Hipolito, a very well-respected climate justice advocate delivered testimony that basically told councilors to get their frickin' hands off the PCEF $$ and do what the committee recommended.

Oral arguments are beginning for the challenge against the initiative petition to divert 25% of Portland Clean Energy Fund income to public safety/police hiring. Challengers argue the petition, which is supported by the Portland Police Association, violates the state constitution.

I, for one, am glad that we have a socialist economist in office when these ghouls come back around to try and loot the public coffers
we’re going to see a full court press to just shovel piles of public money into into private hands under conditions of duress. we’re already there and today’s state of the economy report is a key marker for entering a new stage, i think.
