I've been reluctant about posting on social media as so many of us struggle. This post about Victor Frankl was inspiring to me. Frankl was a good writer and a survivor of the Holocaust concentraition camps. www.themarginalian.org/2026/02/06/y...

While my family was far enough away not to inhale any of the gas, I was still happy to share our story with @sarahjeong.bsky.social for this important report. What an enraging and out-of-control response from ICE on what was otherwise an uplifting day of solidarity and community.
ICE tear gassed a bunch of children on Saturday. This was a massive escalation of force. They were shooting tear gas at the back of the crowd, it took these unmasked people maybe 3-5 minutes in the cloud of tear gas to escape in without trampling. www.theverge.com/policy/87278...

Federal agents gassed a crowd of peaceful protesters in Portland yesterday. City and labor leaders have condemned the attack.

“Had the crowd panicked at all, had the winds shifted… [there were] children in the back of this crowd, they would have been killed,” Vincent Hawkins, a protester, said.

Thousands of workers peacefully protested against ICE, but their event took a dark turn when federal agents launched a barrage of tear gas into the crowd.

Just reading so many accounts of people talking about rinsing out the eyes of their small children, or people who were there with their elderly parents who were vomiting as they were trying to get away. Their violence knows no bounds

This was the view after I moved away for some reprise. You can see after the flash bang grenade goes off a bird flying. Was a heartbreaking reminder it’s not just people impacted by this but animals and nature too.

Thousands of protestors marched across Portland and enveloped the blocks around the ICE building Saturday.

Protestors were met with large clouds of tear gas, pepper balls and flash bangs.

I rode away once they started gassing (no mask). worth noting they gassed a labor march full of like nurses and kiddos
They just heavily gassed. Went thru my full face again. the medics were saying it was going through their masks too. There were very young children present. This is the road nearby ten minutes after the gassing started. The gas is still visible as I type this.
