Netflix has the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever.
Sony, the company that sold 'KPop Demon Hunters' for a song, has scrapped a Thai folklore-inspired feature from 'Amphibia' creator Matt Braly and 'Steven Universe' creator Rebecca Sugar two years into development, calling it “not commercial enough.”

Sure would be nice if journalists writing about the tech industry had, at bare minimum, enough of a science education to debunk their claims.

Idk guys. I feel like you need to be more than a cheerleader or you’re just a useful rube doing free advertising for evil people.

Shockingly relevant to current events! Also, there's a lot as an American that confuses and disgusts me about ZX Spectrum aesthetics, but maybe the worst is that the hit detection seems to have very few visual cues? Maybe its different actually playing it.

Where’s that post about how the citizens didn’t know that Rome had fallen until nobody showed up to repair the bridges?
@chadbourn.bsky.social there's a pilots' chat forum where they're discussing this & exchanging information. pilotsofamerica.com
general consensus is that it's bizarre & unprecedented. & incredibly poorly handled b/c it was issued with no notice, such that passengers arrived to a closed airport.

a big lesson for me over the past ten years is:

if you run an organisation and think - and all the experts you have on staff think - that an outcome will be AN UNMITIGATED DISASTER then it is very important not to eg allow a bunch of non-experts a free choice in whether to do the disaster or not.
to be fair, a lot of quite senior people including the then Prime Minister were saying exactly this just before he made us have that incredibly stupid referendum.

and then a bunch of the ones who'd said it resigned from government and the others got fired.
It is so embarrassing that it has taken nearly a decade for a British minister to say this, a statement of the absolute bloody obvious

1/3 In 2019, messages from Ricardo Rosello, governor of #PuertoRico and his inner circle leaked.

Leaks revealed insane corruption and disdain towards Puerto Ricans.

Giant masses of people protested, marched on major highways, to oust the governor. And they won.

Wonder when we’ll see this here.

I have a buddy who does picks up marketing work and writes promotional copy. He quoted $2k for a bunch of writing, but the company had AI do it instead.

Three weeks later he negotiated $2.5k to edit the AI's work. Starting from a bad place is more work than just doing it.
I have straight-up told two clients at this point that I charge more to edit an AI draft than to just write the whole thing myself, and they are positively confounded by this, but in both cases they ended up just paying me the usual rate to write the whole thing myself.
