the burden of proof is on the mother-fucker asserting something.
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

Hey y'all.

A South African dev released a blackity black game during BHM and it's currently getting the usual suspects in the reviews.

Imma grab this up myself anyway, but can we all be some chums and help push the racists out of the reviews? 🙂

Further evidence "Republicans are better on the economy" is a zombie idea, though clearly there is a large part of the country that interprets "the economy" as "cuts my taxes and lets businesses do what they want [as long as it's not woke]".
We now have data from Trump's first full year in office. Let's review the performance of Trump and the two parties since 1989 and a new age of globalization began.

However you cut the data Trump continues to have worst jobs record of last six Presidents. 1/

A protracted freakout that has lasted a whole calendar quarter and shows no sign of stopping. Reminiscent of a similar freakout over Biden's Democracy Summit. Beijing even used WWII to get Southeast Asia to isolate Japan and got stiff-armed by everyone except Myanmar. Classic stuff.
After Takaichi said Japan could get drawn into conflict if China tried to seize Taiwan by force, Beijing lashed out.

But that strategy has largely backfired. Takaichi has declined to retract her comments and was resoundingly rewarded for her show of strength by voters.

-that sentiment still exists today, of course, it's just been repackaged as STEM or die
-I wasn't bad at math, I just hate it, and look at me now, a professional paragraph assembler
Those who weren’t resigned to the Math Idiot Garbage Bin as kids may not grasp how much “if you’re bad at math, you’ll die in a ditch and all will be better off for it” sentiment was floating around in the 90s and 2000s, but it sure felt real to me.

In the wake of a massive confirmation that the tech industry’s run by deranged pedophiles, not a single tech platform should have the balls to start demanding ID and enacting invasive policies.

Yet they continue. They’re the ones being outed as dangerous and we’re the ones being regulated.

This is true, and even if we get rid of Trump, we still have to reckon with the fact that a substantial proportion of US economic and political elites were *eager* to jump on the fascism train. They will still be the same people when Trump is gone.
The political dynamics of 2025 were shaped by Democrats and Republicans over-reading Trump's victory in the same way. That turns out to be a problem for a LOT of rich and powerful people who made a very large bet on the theory that MAGA had won the culture war. www.offmessage.net/p/trump-has-...

Even righteous public anger after the Tai Po fire became a national security issue once people started demanding government accountability. A city of cops, with a cop as CE, will always see 'black hands' and 'foreign agents' lurking in the shadows because the emperor in the north says they're there.
Hypothesis: GovHK will never move on from national security to other priorities because it (and Beijing) will never feel secure enough – not least because they know a huge chunk of the HK pop still supports the pro-demo movement Jimmy Lai championed. Everything is a national security issue now.
A day after Jimmy Lai's 20-year sentence, Beijing's State Council released a paper outlining plans to strengthen national security in Hong Kong, focusing on areas such as finance, shipping, and protecting overseas interests.

I thought about why I’ve been pushing back on stolen midterm fears. What’s the harm of worry, even if it doesn’t materialize?

It’s this. The regime has less capacity than it’d like, and tries to make up the difference with bluster. If people act as if it’s true, that grants the regime more power.
don't carry maga's water for them. don't try to work out how there's some secret loophole in the constitution that magically ends democracy. there isn't. that's the whole fucking point you fucking dopes

Someday a lot of these people are going to come to some form of realization that they could've made a sandwich, or a salad, or a taco, or fried rice, or a soup & gotten literally all of the benefits they want without resorting to making food into a joyless self-punishment slurry.
this "boy kibble" thing is clearly coding any enjoyment of the aesthetic of food as feminine and more importantly, another step toward a culture where people view the joy of cooking as incompatible with daily life: www.nytimes.com/2026/02/09/s...
