I tried to get Truth Social's customized AI to admit that Trump's desperate interest in the Peace Prize was a function of insecurity.

A lot going on but at some point (preferably sooner than later) Janet Mills should tell Dem primary voters if she thinks Schumer should lead Senate Dems or not.

It's a consequential question -- growing more significant by the hour -- and if she wins it will be the first vote she casts. #MEpolitics
Just got this forwarded. Here are the talking points Schumer's team just emailed out to their allies TODAY - this afternoon.

The words "Minnesota" or "ICE" don't appear anywhere here.

Incredible.
ICE officer leaves ICE “battle plan” on the bus. This is the quality that virtually no screening and only 47 days of training gets you.

🚨WHOA. The El Paso Medical Examiner says it will rule the death of a 55-year-old Cuban man at ICE's "Camp East Montana" tent camp as a homicide.

He was allegedly choked to death by a guard during a "struggle" after he refused to enter a housing unit without his medications.

This shouldn't require saying, but we highlight polls at a time like this because 1) it's heartening to see the American people rejecting fascism, which inspires more to join; and 2) because Ds are under pressure from certain quarters NOT to engage, so we need to let them know what the people want.

The core truth of the Trump era, and the one that journalism is forbidden from stating out loud, is that Trump has gathered around him a constituency of the country's worst people.

That's what most distinguishes them -- not economic status, age, where they live, anything else. It's shittiness.

A thing I do not expect any office seeker to say, but which is true: In general, excluding certain high tech goods, nominal prices don't go down. You're never getting literally "lower prices." Or at least you'd better hope not, because if you DO see that it probably means the economy is fucked.

Schumer needs to go. Yes affordability is important and needs to be a part of it but people are scared/pissed as they watch there friends, loved ones and neighbors being assaulted, abducted and now killed by wannabe slave catchers/gestapo.

It means: we’re not going to identify or correct easily verifiable falsehoods expressed by right-wing actors on our programs, and we’re going to spin this as “trust” rather than an abdication of our most basic function as journalists.
Been reading this over and over and can't for the life of me understand what he's even trying to say. This is a lot of words to say... nothing.

Kind of a shame that so few of the most ambitious Senate Dems want to rise in leadership (rather than become governor or president) and the few who do are under Schumer’s wing.
It's extraordinarily rare for a political event to break through to such a widespread degree as this. Dems should seize on it! This is resonating big time in exactly the info spaces that Dems struggle to reach, as I try to argue in this piece:
This is incredible: 81% of working class and 83% of young voters have seen video of Renee Good's killing, per new data I've obtained. Majority of working class disapproves of ICE enforcement. ICE brutality is breaking through big time.

Some thoughts on this here:

Past time for Dem govs to create a mechanism or lead a movement aimed at withholding blue-state federal tax dollars. No straightforward way to do this, but it’s a solvable problem.
The insult added to injury is that the most productive parts of the country are being forced to finance their own occupation and brutalization.
Koh: Trump has now spent $30 billion from the last bill for 10,000 more I.C.E. Agents that are going to be on the streets. That $30 billion would cover all the ACA subsidies for a year. It would eliminate all co-pays for prescription drugs for people from a year, and eliminate all medical debt.

Low on the priority list right now, but I think we need to assume that absolutely every public asset that can be stripped & sold for parts over the next three years will be, and the assets parked in some offshore account.

You know, if this is okay—the President can take funds and park them in a foreign slush account—then we really don't need a wealth tax. The next Democratic President can simply seize money from right-wing billionaires and park it offshore, free from "seizure" by Congress and the courts. 🤷‍♀️
Seizure ... by whom? If we're asserting that the money is safer in Qatar than the US, that suggests that it is being protected because Qatar has something the US lacks — presumably a lack of accountability to American courts and Congress. www.semafor.com/article/01/1...
