I realize football may be of much lesser importance to potential disasters.

But a grass field that isn’t the kind that’s designed for bad weather games (like Lambeau is) is going to be a mud pit by the 4th quarter.
LA Times: holy cow Hawkeyes, we’re bringing rain, storms even a possible tornado 😲

Turns out Michigan State didn’t get a win over Iowa last year! Who knew!
NCAA ruling on Michigan State football violations: Mel Tucker, former GM Saeed Khalif and former assistant Brandon Jordan were sanctioned. Tucker has a three-year show-cause penalty. The school has had wins vacated, plus recruiting restrictions and a fine. web3.ncaa.org/lsdbi/search...

This is an amazing look at how bad the ACC has become:

Since 2018, ACC is 53-103 in non-con vs Power 5 in the regular season. Only Clemson (7-6), Duke (7-5) & Cal (3-0) have a winning record. Va Tech is 0-11. Since 2021, the ACC has 23 losses to non-Power 5 teams. The SEC and B1G have 21 combined.
On a Saturday when the B1G did it right — drama w/o upheaval — it was a reminder of how bad things are in the ACC.
The inability of top brands to win consistently, a woeful OOC record, and a talent drain to the Big Ten are all part of a complex problem… davidhale.substack.com/p/all-catast...
All Catastrophes Conference
The ACC has had back-to-back disastrous Saturdays, raising the genuine question of whether it could be left out of the playoff entirely. How has it gotten this bad?

Sometimes you’re a good team, but not a great team. The better team that made fewer mistakes won. It was also, bar none, the most miserable conditions that I’ve ever been. I’ve been in Bama heat and sub-freezing games in Kinnick, Soldier Field, and Arrowhead. But 40 and constant rain is the worst.

Mississippi State player gets crunched. May have concussion. As he is helped off the field, the fans shake their cowbells…to increase the ringing in his ears? Clanga gonna clanga.

To this day, as a 41 year old woman, "Somewhere Out There" will reduce me to tears. He's just a little kid alone in the world and desperate to find his family and they miss him!
It’s hard to believe but there was a cartoon about an immigrant mouse and it was seen as totally fine and not controversial and not woke because it was an aspirational and nice thing about America that people could come here and find a better life

Iowa a 9 seed.

(Is it too early for this? Of course not!)
Since it is after noon ET now, here's my preseason bracket.

These seem to get worse with each passing season, so just save this for laughs come March.

And you knew I was going to use the champs as the photo. 🐊
