i think this attitude — that all opposition is illegitimate and nothing we do can be questioned— is probably pervasive in the white house and helps explain why they keep making terrible political choices
Putin pioneered this. No opposition is legitimate. Regular, decent, “ordinary” people cannot possibly be against us because only we represent “the real people.”

Tell-tale sign of authoritarianism.

Boy, I am just a former state public defender and federal criminal investigator but someone is going to have to explain to me how federal agents who are not on federal property are able to block state law enforcement from accessing a crime scene

Sounds like pretty clear Obstruction of Justice to me

Videos verified by The New York Times show Alex Jeffrey Pretti, the man federal agents shot and killed in Minneapolis on Saturday, was holding a phone, not a gun, when the agents took him to the ground and shot him. In total, at least 10 shots appear to have been fired within five seconds.
Videos Show Moments in Which Agents Killed a Man in Minneapolis
Federal authorities said the slain man, Alex Pretti, had approached agents with a gun. But videos show Mr. Pretti was holding his phone, not a weapon, when they pulled him to the ground.

I worked at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa for 4 years. I helped with our graduate and night programs for nurses. I have never met a better group of selfless people. That the last thing he did was try to care for another doesn’t surprise me. This is sickening.

"It could be worse." -Thousands of Minnesotans today
The funniest shit is that I feel like the huge turnout downtown is almost because of the cold not in spite of it. The fact that it’s -10 degrees out led to just more defiance, like thousands out there saying, it isn’t even that bad out.

"Trump's shooting moms and dads, killing the American dream and making everything cost more. He isn't good at anything but corruption."

is an easy and accurate message
I will repeat: It is not obvious, based on the data, that campaigning on the economy in Nov would be significantly more effective than campaigning on immigration. Gov. policy is dramatically out of step with the public on immigration/deportations, and executive overreach is a potent motivator

Yeah I think the last time we tried to borrow a couple plows from Asheville and they got stuck?? But my favorite story is still the time where two of Atlanta‘s four plows were disabled because they ran into each other in their own parking lot

Of course, it also says Iowa could move even further up the list if Mark Gronkowski take another step forward as a passer.
