I wish there was a way for famous people to leave reasonable, dissenting comments on posts without sending flocks of haters over to harass the person they're interacting with

Like, they could just disagree as a person in the moment, wouldn't that be nice?

I cannot begin to properly articulate how upsetting it is to have had people baselessly accuse trans people of being groomers and pedophiles only for it to come out that they were deliberately doing this as part of a project to provide cover to actual groomers and pedophiles in positions of power

And billionaires will ensure that this common knowledge - "taxing really rich people will make things better and not destroy people" - is hotly-debated and ultimately made to feel like some crazy radical opinion.
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:
Millionaire Tax That Inspired Mamdani Fuels $5.7 Billion Haul in Massachusetts

Curious to see whether the Republicans' long-running "Let's move the goalpost towards scumland" technique will be successful when it comes to pedophilia
Megyn Kelly: "I know somebody very close to this case…Jeffrey Epstein, in this person's view, was not a pedophile…He was into the barely legal type, like he liked 15 year old girls…He wasn't into like 8 year olds…There's a difference between a 15 year old and a 5 year old."

Can none of these millionaires sex criminals write in full sentences? Have you heard of paragraphs? Punctuation? No wonder ChatGPT sounds like a genius to these clowns.

TIRED: "Why are you still on X? It's overrun by fascists."

WIRED: "Why are you still subscribing to the NYT? It's overrun by fascists."
It’s wild how TV told us that conspiracies were shadowy and hyper-competent and in reality the only conspiracy was that the NYT editorial board really wanted Trump to be president so they just… ignored all the e-mails the notorious sex trafficker kept sending them about his pedophile friend.

Every office has an executive tier whose emails are like:

saw on news , , can we replce complianc dept with web 3

and a worker tier whose emails are like:

Dear Jim,
First of all, I *love* this idea! Unfortunately, I spoke with Legal and identified a few issues with this approach. For starters…
Well, it's a little clearer now why billionaires are so invested in technology that produces better written emails.

I’ve seen a few folks go for the “if you simply must watch that new Harry Potter show just pirate it” and sorry. No. Just no. Just don’t watch it. At all. Ever. Break free of it. It’s time. You’ll be ok. I promise. I know it mattered to you as a kid. Find new things, it’s healthier. Just move on.

I guarantee you if you have a new James Bond showing up with a different face and a different personality, 90% of people will just go "Welp, new guy, not the one who died" and we don't need Crisis on Infinite Bonds to fucking explain it
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

How come people always want to blame porn for things like intimate partner violence and they never want to blame: deeply ingrained misogyny
The UK report behind the new porn ban blames it for being a major cause of violence against women, yet can't cite a single academic study showing a link.

Their proof? "Anecdotal evidence submitted to this review” with a single footnote to a BBC interview with a quote from a school teacher.
The ban on online porn showing choking is doomed to fail
Reaching for a ban is not always the best way to cure a social ill

It always sounds like the "reasonable" thing to meet bigots in the middle, especially when you have qualms about your own movement—but these people aren't out to compromise. They're out to exterminate and humiliate.

Stunning that anyone doesn't know that by now.

As many have pointed out, Mamdani didn't stand apart from our trans brothers and sisters. He didn't play the "Gee, gosh, it sure is complicated," milquetoast moderate card. And he crushed.

The way forward is together, not over the bodies of our own.

And unfortunately for us all, medical technology advanced at a rate where Boomers could be active well past where past generations would have geared down, so now they're functionally convinced they're immortal
No, but mortality is.

The Boomers HAVE to be understood as the first generation for whom "being young" was the CORE of their cultural identity: They will *always* be the first teens/college-kids demographically big enough to have 'reshaped history' - EVERY acknowledment of aging is a dagger to that
Why? Are younger people so terrifying?
