#EdTech professional. Topics I care about: politics (on your left), books (crime, SF, horror, lit), TV, wrestling (AEW, CMLL, fuck WWE), tech, probably other stuff. 3 cats, 1 dog. Dog is smaller than any of the cats. Also, fuck ICE
Green Lantern is driven by willpower. So Swerve as GL checks out. #AEWWorldsEnd

It's ridiculous for people to suggest that Taibbi and Greenwald are puppets to billionaires. That's like suggesting water is wet.
For a supposed “free speech champion”, Matt Taibbi sure does file some whiny-ass lawsuits.

This is from *page one* of the complaint:

RIP, Giant-Sized Talking Tick. Thank you for your 30 years of service. And for somehow still being able to shout "Spoon!" and "I am the Tick" without my ever having changed your battery.

Okay, but why is Toni saying she's from England?
To celebrate the new AEW Bacon Brawl Combo, White Castle actually let our wrestlers take over a store 🤣

What would you order from Timeless Toni Storm?

#AEW World's End buy-in thought: Hyan and Maya should absolutely go over the Sisters of Sin. Skye's only worthwhile in hardcore matches, and Julia's spinning her wheels. Give the newbies their graphic, let Thekla finally get fed up with the rest of the Triangle, etc.

Holy shit is this a level of bad I didn't expect. Really, really fucking hope she's not back for the final season of Hacks -- she was entertaining before I knew anything about her, but fuck this shit.
My natural inclination is to give any queer comic a chance. So, I set about streaming Hoffman’s latest Netflix comedy special “Wake Up” in that spirit. From her opening salvo, however, I began having doubts.

What Can Robby Hoffman Possibly Know About Being a Bisexual Man?
A new Netflix comedy special perpetuates bigotry and bias within the LGBTQ+ community.

My opposition to incarceration is being tested by ICE gang members, every one of whom (with no exceptions) is utter fucking scum, and should have to make full restitution for the damage they've done.
ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.

Not mentioned (either at the IA or at Duke's annual Public Domain Day post) but worth tracking down: Gwen Bristow and Bruce Manning's novel "The Invisible Guest," a very likely inspiration for Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None."
When the clock strikes midnight on January 1, creative works from 1930 & sound recordings from 1925 will enter the public domain in the US, like:

💄 Dizzy Dishes, first Betty Boop cartoon
🕵️♀️ First 4 Nancy Drew novels
🚂 The Little Engine That Could
🎩 Morocco
🍑 Georgia on My Mind
and many more!

Also, do not give the NYT your puzzle subscription money, because that's used to fund the anti-trans and pro-Trump reporting.

www.puzzmo.com is a fantastic puzzle subscription option.

dailycrosswordlinks.com/category/dai... has links to dozens of daily crosswords, many just as good or better.

Anyone who supports this kind of thing, whatever their reason, has a broken soul.

Anyone who supports or defends the political regime that activates it cannot be trusted on any level.

It doesn’t fix things, but it really does bring me comfort to know how miserable some of the worst people are. Donald Trump tweeting over 200 times on Christmas. Billionaires fighting with strangers online during the holidays. Everything about Elon Musk

Kevin Knight went from having a perfectly cromulent match at Wrestle Kingdom in January to being fucking amazing.

Gabe Kidd went from having a fucking amazing match at Wrestle Dynasty in January to exuding big "get the fuck off my TV" energy.

There are only two offenses the Constitution goes out of its way to specifically say merit impeachment, and this is one of them.
GOP operatives Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman, convicted election fraudsters, were paid $960,000 in the second quarter to secure a pardon for a former nursing-home operator who defrauded the government of $38 million. Trump pardoned the man, Joseph Schwartz, last month.

Seeing as it's been two years since the adaptation was announced with no new news, I'm assuming the Chronicles of Amber series is dead, so that's my choice.
OK, less contentious post:

You've been placed in charge of a movie studio, and have an unlimited budget to adapt any work of your choosing that has never been made into a live-action TV series or film. What are you picking?

For me: PC Hodgell's Kencyrath Cycle and there's no close second

ICE agent recognized out Christmas shopping—throws tantrum when citizens profile him.

"We're trying to prevent you from kidnapping our neighbors," they say.

"I'm not doing anything but walking, leave me alone!" he yells.

"Not right now you're not—but the past 5 days you have."
