This is Pinky, one of our regular King Parrot visitors. It can be hard to keep track of individuals, but she's had those distinctive pink toes and reddish beak for as long as I've known her, and I have photos of her dating back to 2018!

Since Valentine's Day is approaching, I'm reposting some of my past Valentine's comics.
A great blue heron is standing in a marsh reading a book. The book says "They lived at opposite ends of the pond. From afar, she admired his long plumes and excellent fishing technique." The heron gets more flustered as she reads: "One day he came flying toward her. Watching him approach, she wondered: What did he want? And was he... carrying something in his beak?" The heron gets even more flustered as she reads: "Her heart skipped a beat as he landed beside her. Fluffing his neck feathers, he said those three special words:" The heron falls backwards in a swoon as she reads, "Here's a stick."

And wonderful to see the staff at the albatross center taking such good care of them. Here, egg-weighing time. Which gives you a sense of scale for these massive, beautiful birds.

occasional reminder that it's ok to make mistakes in art or not be super productive or performing at a high level

artists can tend to be very unforgiving of themselves, just ease into the process and get all the good/bad/meh ideas out of your system until you get something consistent

Female #kakapo Kohengi on her three eggs on Pukenui/Anchor Island today. We don't yet know if they're fertile, but will investigate soon. So far fertility on Anchor is very high: only 8 infertile out of 33 checked. We expect many more infertile eggs though. #kakapo2026 #conservation #birds

A comic called the four seasons of bird watching. In panel 1, labeled elegant songbird spring, a yellow-throated vireo sings against a green background.
