It’s the exclusive everyone wanted, the story that will win next year’s Pulitzer…

I can reveal London’s giant AI generated Christmas artwork, the subject of much online mockery, is being torn down - and I honestly *genuinely* think you’ll never guess why. www.londoncentric.media/p/ai-artwork...
London's giant AI artwork to be torn down
The bizarre story of why a much-talked-about creation is being torn down. Plus: Docklands Light Railway extension, giant laser stalks the night sky, and more tales of Android phone theft rejection.

This exchange between Hancock and Johnson on 7th March 2020 speaks volumes about that government’s pandemic leadership.

Hancock: This is a clarion call for you to lead.

Johnson: Ok, I’m off to the rugby.

On a similar note, when decorating I found painting walls with a roller, covering a large area quickly with less pressure, meant something acoustic and easy going. Whilst painting woodwork, the annoying attention to detail and heady fumes leant themselves to Chemical Brothers style dance crap.

I hope they used the same two topless men every time. I would watch an Edwardian Road movie about these two chaps, zigzagging the country by train, methodically but reluctantly measuring out 70 feet and then exposing their nipples to be sure.

I’m calling them Hedley and Chadwick.
In the UK, houses that back on to each other have to be at least 21 metres apart because of a 1902 law. This is all about protecting a woman's modesty.

This distance was decided by two topless men backing away from each other until they couldn't see each others nipples.

I thought this was going to turn into a story needing its own True Crime Netflix series, but no.
This is quite something.

We begin today with a content warning: this dispatch from history is not for the faint-hearted. However, if you wish, do please join me for the tale of the Sun King’s anal fistula and the three-hour operation performed on it without anaesthetic on this day in 1686... 🧵

This is a beautiful story...
We lived in a pub when I was growing up and when I was 3 (50 years ago!) we had someone in to draw the pub for a business card. I sat next to him and watched him draw every line. I was transfixed and it was a huge inspiration for me. I’ve dreamt about owning that drawing for years…

The amazing BBC Archive account doesn't exist on Bluesky - it must still be languishing in that fascist hellscape formerly known as Twitter - but here's an example of the riches it provides: a 1969 doc in which Marty Feldman investigates the very essence of comedy.

Why is it important to include references to slavery on blue plaques, National Trust properties, etc? Because otherwise people are convinced that somehow those lovely houses were gifted to certain British families by the fairies, and don't think about where the money came from.
holy shit: “Among the 2,000 UK adults surveyed, 85% were unaware that Britain forcibly transported more than 3 million Africans to the Caribbean, 89% did not know that Britain enslaved people in the Caribbean for more than 300 years” www.theguardian.com/world/2025/n...

What is it with teenagers not wearing coats. Tipping down all day, son no.3 arrived home with his bouffant hair matted down by the rain, no coat on. "I didn't need it, I walked home under the trees."
