On a similar note, when decorating I found painting walls with a roller, covering a large area quickly with less pressure, meant something acoustic and easy going. Whilst painting woodwork, the annoying attention to detail and heady fumes leant themselves to Chemical Brothers style dance crap.

I hope they used the same two topless men every time. I would watch an Edwardian Road movie about these two chaps, zigzagging the country by train, methodically but reluctantly measuring out 70 feet and then exposing their nipples to be sure.

This is a beautiful story...
We lived in a pub when I was growing up and when I was 3 (50 years ago!) we had someone in to draw the pub for a business card. I sat next to him and watched him draw every line. I was transfixed and it was a huge inspiration for me. I’ve dreamt about owning that drawing for years…

Why is it important to include references to slavery on blue plaques, National Trust properties, etc? Because otherwise people are convinced that somehow those lovely houses were gifted to certain British families by the fairies, and don't think about where the money came from.
