The economics of self-releasing music as physical media, a thread.
My first self-released CD is SEA OTTERS by The Bionics, an album of Not-Quite-Techno made in a very analogue way, and on our Bandcamp page along with 17 back catalogue treats.

Off to get my hair cut and I'm already dreading the traditional "Got any plans for the rest of the day?" Response is a toss-up between the truth "I'm going to Rymans, buying a couple of jars of vegemite then heading home to watch a Frederick Wiseman documentary", or simply "A looooot of fuckin'"

One month to go before the release of the third Bionics LP, entitled ASTRO MAMBO! with a wonderful cover by @happytoast.co.uk . Song titles are a tribute to the first women in Space from their respective countries (and in Helen Sharman's case the first British human full stop).

"The questions posed in this 1976 Synapse conversation catch them mid-transition, still close enough to the art-scene experiments to talk about long-form happenings, yet already thinking in systems, repetition, human-machine symbiosis, and Europe as a circuit you can travel, tune, and loop."
Fifty Years Ago, Kraftwerk Talked Tape, Paranoia and the Human Machine | In Sheeps Clothing
Read a very long, very fascinating interview with Ralf Hutter and Florian Schneider from Synapse Magazine, 1976. In 1976, Kraftwerk sat at a strange, newly powerful crossroads. Autobahn had carried them out of the Düsseldorf art-music underground and onto international radio. Radio-Activity had tightened their focus on transmission, signal and the psychology of modern technology, and the group was beginning to look less like a rock band using electronics than a self-contai...

Yesterday, I thought about buying some new shower curtains. But instead, today I'm washing the old ones.

IT'S FIXED, so I'm taking a break from th'Olympics.
I don't suppose anybody knows how to tell anyone at BFI Player that their copy of Kurosawa's HIGH AND LOW is unwatchably out of sync? #FilmSky

my brother millions of metalheads around the world have been happily listening to incomprehensible Finnish shrieks and Japanese death grunts since we were teens, you’re just boring and racist

Is anyone else hoping for the classic cock & balls to manifest on that little map in the corner of the Ice Dancing? #WinterOlympics

I took a break from the Winter Olympics to watch a documentary about a ski jumper. But, not just any ski jumper and not just any documentary film maker.

Yes yes, THE HIDDEN FORTRESS is famed as one of the inspirations for George Lucas in writing Star Trek but what we should be celebrating is that *maybe* the chanting as they approach the Fire Festival could be the source of the chant loop at the beginning of 'The Schmürz', by Nurse With Wound?

On the strength of the first episode, Waiting For The Out feels like golden age British telly. Not least for the supporting performances, especially Alex Ferns who I only recently saw rock up and help himself to an entire episode of Chernobyl as the chief miner.

Quite understandable. After all, Italy doesn't really *do* food.
Not only did they bring a small private army, but among the waste of taxpayer money was BRINGING A FULL PLANE OF FOOD.

To *Italy*.

Mastering of the imminent Bionics LP is currently underway. I wonder what do other musicians do in this situation? Trust the expert? Run A/B comparisons? Play on a variety of devices e.g. Hi-fi, Headphones, Phone at the back of the bus?
